LB Dorian Bell (transfer to Duquesne)

Hey, Doug: Dorian Bell seems really confident in his ability to help the Buckeyes this year. Do you think he is the real deal? -- Robert Driscoll, Parma

Hey, Robert: I do. It's tough to play a lot as a true freshman at linebacker, so I see his season working out more like Etienne Sabino's did last year, with mostly work on special teams. But Bell told another reporter he'd like to head to the NFL after three seasons at Ohio State, so there's no point in red-shirting guys like that. While true freshman Storm Klein has already worked his way up to the second team, I wouldn't he shocked if Bell gets himself in a similar position by the end of the year.

Reports from Bowl practice have been very promising. He may find himself in the 2 deep next year, but LB'er is so competitive who knows what will happen.

He has the attitude and athletic ability to contribute, but he has to get the mental down pat, something Sabino is said to have accomplished this bowl season.

2010 LBs

OSU is so rich in great LBs, and I wonder if that has to do with Jordan Hicks' tough decision to come here. JH might have to wait a year or two before he sees the field here at OSU unless he just blows up the current group we have, which will be very difficult with Sabino, Kline, Sweat, Whiting, Bell, just to name a few.

Great LBs grow on trees in Texas just like Ohio, and UF is hauling in anyone they want right now. SnG's statement was accurate.

OSU might be the most stacked of the squads, but he will be up against it to play early at any of the 3.

Mays is every bit of 6-foot-3...Bell is 6-foot-0...and I think they excel at different facets of the game. Bell is going to be a devastating blitzer. I would be shocked if he ended up at safety...he is LB all the way in my eyes.

I just reread this thread, and am excited t see what comes of Bell this season. If Moeller does not make it back 100%, could Bell play the star position? It seems that he has the speed to keep up with anyone in coverage, and the skills to blitz, and be a factor in the run game? If Homan, Sabino, and Rolle, are the LB;s, I think that Bell has to see the field somehow....

This kid is a beast! Sabino and Sweat better get a lock on that SAM position, because if they slip Bell could easily be a starter. Heck this kid could start for every other team in the big ten, last year!

Yeah really... splitting time with a walk-on is not what I would call "being a beast"... I could be wrong.

Yes you are wrong, if you noticed yesterdays notes, Bell played with the 2nd team. You must realize, that theres more practice days than one. We have a couple weeks until the Spring game and several months before our first game, spots won't be sorted out for a while. This kid is a beast, 1 day with walk ons doesn't mean much.
