LB/DE Mark Johnson (official thread)

That really sucks, I thought we had a good chance and he has unbelievable measurables for a linebacker, is there any way theres still a chance for him to improve on those scores?

Don't give up yet. I am sure they are just trying to sure up some of the test scores and grades b4 they go ahead and have him in for a visit. If he has tried two weeks to come from Cali to Ohio he must be pretty darn intersted, so unitl he says he is not looking at us no more lets just hope he can get his grades and scores together.

bill kurelic just posted on bsb that johnson's father couldn't make the trip, so they decided to reschedule.

JMO, but johnson is one of those oos players that you go all out for and get him aboard, then work on getting him qualified. if osu can get him in for a game (maybe MSU), then they have a very legit shot.

You also cheapen your interest in the other LBs that might be visiting. Until he gets serious and raises his grades, it seems logical to not invite him, when you consider our stricter standards.

NO! You don't waste scholarships on "maybes". Make sure he can qualify first and then get him...

like freddie lenix?

is osu after any other MLB's? I dont think a kid being recruited to play OLB would worry much about a school recruiting a MLB. That's like a CB worring about a school recruiting a safety, or a guard worrying about a kid being recruited to play tackle.

glenville comparisons are like a three-legged dog: they limp... we are gonna make exceptions for glenville kids. He didn't get an offer until his grades went up tho.

I don't think we make exceptions for Glenville kids as much as what type of maturation the kid has shown. I would be more likely to offer a kid who has raised his GPA and shown more responsibility his junior and senior years as opposed to a kid who goes the opposite direction. I think Freddie is an example of the former.
