LB/DE Mark Johnson (official thread)

Freeman probably plays 2 years with us at the WILL... then gets drafted in the first round :)
Homan may play the MIKE behind Kerr this year, start next year.
Laurinaitis probably stays for 3 more at the SAM before going to the NFL.

If Johnson redshirts, he will have 1 year to share with Freeman and then start at thw WILL for 3 more afterwards.

How serious is his injury? I was reading the chat at Bucknuts (the free one) and it made it seem the injury could be career threatening. Is this so?

Here is the exert:

Besides DT & OT what area do you think OS has the most need for?

Those two for sure. Probably WR with Ginn, Gonzo and Hall all upperclassmen. They have recruited Saine and Herron at RB. They seem to get all the DBs they need. I think they lack a true MLB in the pipeline, particularly if Mark Johnson never makes it because of injury.

Interesting question because a lot of times we chalk up these early depth charts as motivation for other players but I think that Spitler really could be the 2nd string MLB. In his limited action last year he looked good and with Johnson having the shoulder set back he might have an uphill climb to see any action this year. We shall see..

I don't know... Spitler has a tendency to "rough the center" a sign he plays waaaay out of control out there :) lol (what the hell kind of BS call was that in the scUM game?). Anyways, I have actually heard reports that Mark has turned the corner and once James graduates or if he leaves early, Mark will have every opportunity to take over. The LB class of Mark, Thad and Ross could come to fruition as a studly starting lineup and Tyler may even be in there too at Safety!!
