Terrible news. Thoughts are with the Grant family.
Playing through the pain
A week after the death of his father, Curtis Grant had no doubt that he would play against Iowa. The junior linebacker returned from Virginia on Tuesday, buoyed by the support of his team.
“I came back this week and I got with my guys and they lifted me. That’s part of the brotherhood,” Grant said. “My dad would have wanted me to play. I just went out there for him today and gave it my all for him.
“Going through a tough situation like that, going through it alone is a bad thing. But when you’ve got others around you — family back home and family up here — you come back and it seems you don’t even miss a beat.”
Grant had eight tackles against the Hawkeyes.
Injury update
Linebacker Curtis Grant did not practice as he continues to recover from a sprained ankle and lower back suffered against Purdue. Grant would not be needed when Ohio State uses only two linebackers in its nickel formation against Illinois’ passing offense.

Also : Curtis Grant did make the trip with the team but likely will not play.
