Wrestler's son spells doom for offenses

Granted, James Laurinaitis puts himself in the middle of the mayhem whenever he hits the field. The Nagurski Award winner as college football's top defensive player led the Ohio State Buckeyes not only in tackles but interceptions.
But hoist an opponent on his shoulders to set up an oooh-inducing takedown?
Nah. Envision the penalty flags.
Leave that to the carefree days of youth. Or to Dad.
It was Joe Laurinaitis, after all, who helped make Doomsday a signature move (Doomsday Device) as Animal, half of pro wrestling's legendary Road Warriors/Legion of Doom tag team.

Great read from Bill "Bank" Greene as James describes his season, his future expectations....and he says there is no way he would leave early for the NFL.

I hope he feels that way at the end of next year. But I truly think he stays, MLBs don't have much value in the NFL draft from what i've heard which could make his potential decision of staying a little easier.

It's always nice to hear from the guys who want to stay at Ohio State as long as they can, but sometimes there are very good reasons to leave early (and not all money related). I'd love to watch James play for 2 more years though. Whether he's a team captain or not next year, I think he will represent the heart of the defense and be a leader.

One goal for Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis this season is to put even more heat on opposing quarterbacks.

Listening to James Laurinaitis, you wouldn't know he was All-America last season. "There's a lot of stuff I've got to improve upon in watching (film of himself) last season," the linebacker said.
Like what? As a sophomore in 2006, he won the Nagurski Award and was a finalist for the Butkus and Bednarik awards, was named first-team All-Big Ten and led Ohio State with 115 tackles. He also had four sacks and five interceptions.

That is good to know he ranked 20th, although I am hoping that he doesn't enter the draft early, I have heard many rumors though that he is thinking about following in Hawk's footsteps and staying his senior year, which would be great.
I hope he stays too, along with gholston and jenkins. If all this happens probably puts us as one of the frontrunners for a national championship in 2008 with USC setting us up for a pretty big showdown in LA in September.

I agree with you, this is a rebuilding year, and we most likely lose no more than three games, which is great for a rebuilding year, mainly for the offense it is. But, by 2008 if we keep most of our defensive players, we will be in the run for the national champioship, like you said. I have a feeling we could do some great things next year as well, as long as Boeckman, or whoever steps in the QB role, can be a good leader.
