LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF)

For sure. This has something to do with the LBU mystique of penn state, which is only evident because of the time their defense spends on the field. Consider the difficulty of each tackle at tOSU compared to tackles on a squad like PSU.

PRIMETIME DEFENDER

Sophomore Laurinaitis becomes a team leader, national award winner in first season as starter

By Marla Ridenour

Beacon Journal sportswriter

On the wall of his room in Columbus, James Laurinaitis mounted a picture a fan gave him from last year's Fiesta Bowl.
True to form for Ohio State's humble middle linebacker, it's not No. 33 making a tackle. The shot shows him standing in the huddle with then-seniors A.J. Hawk and Anthony Schlegel.

LEGACY OF THE LEGION

OSU students dress up like Laurinaitis' father, `The Animal,' at games

By Marla Ridenour

Beacon Journal sportswriter

It's hard to choose the more outrageous:
The three Ohio State students who dress up like linebacker James Laurinaitis' professional wrestling father, Joe, aka ``The Animal'' from the tag team Road Warriors/Legion of Doom for football games. Or the doctor who took their picture Nov. 18 and said he was blowing it up to poster size for his office.

He is the winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, emblematic of college football's best defensive player. He is the only sophomore besides Ohio State's Andy Katzenmoyer and Oklahoma's Brian Bosworth to win it.

Great job of reporting in the above article by Bill Livingston, the guy at the Plain Dealer who frequently takes shots at things related to tOSU football.

He is the winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, emblematic of college football's best defensive player. He is the only sophomore besides Ohio State's Andy Katzenmoyer and Oklahoma's Brian Bosworth to win it.

Actually, the Big Kat and Brian Bosworth won the Butkus Award, given to the nation's best linebacker (unless his name is A.J. Hawk). But Laurinaitis was a finalist for that award, so it's almost the truth. :tongue2:
