B. ROLLE EXPECTS OHIO STATE'S DEFENSE TO REIGN SUPREME IN 2010
By Joseph Stueve
COLUMBUS ? Standing behind a podium at 5-foot-11 and 218 pounds, Ohio State senior linebacker Brian Rolle doesn't own an intimidating presence.
But throw on some shoulder pads and a helmet and Rolle suddenly resembles a wrecking ball.
After stepping into the starting middle linebacker position as a junior last season, Rolle quickly proved his ability to constantly find the football. In 13 starts, Rolle accumulated 95 tackles and one interception as he helped lead an Ohio State defense to a fifth consecutive top 10 ranking in points allowed.
The Florida product expects the defense to produce similar, if not better, results in 2010.
"The seniors, including me, have been pushing the younger guys," Rolle said. "Last year's defense was last year's defense. This year's defense is going to be faster, bigger, and stronger. We're going to be a lot better and more disciplined.
"We've got more seniors and guys who want to lead like (linebacker) Ross Homan and Jermale Hines at safety. I think Jermale is one of the smartest guys on our defense."

Photoshopping is terrible, ugly background, and a pretty weak font.

Rolle has it all covered

When Ohio State middle linebacker Brian Rolle talked with brother William a year ago at this time, they discussed whether Brian should be preparing for his senior season with the Buckeyes or working at an NFL team's training camp this fall.
William, who played outside linebacker at Illinois State, offered simple advice.
"I've always told him, 'I'm your brother, I love you, and whatever you decide I'll be happy with,'" William said. "But you have to make the decision that makes you happy, not everybody else."
Rolle went through the NFL to see his draft spot projection and chose not to leave school.
"I don't regret my decision at all," said Rolle, an Immokalee High graduate and former Defensive Player of the Year selection by The News-Press. "Ohio State is a great place. I didn't really want to leave my senior year."
The decision already seems like the right one and the Buckeyes haven't even played a game.
Rolle is considered a leader for a team ranked No. 2 in most preseason polls and a national title contender. Ohio State is favored to win its sixth straight conference title, which would be a Big Ten record.
"I didn't want to leave early and miss a chance on winning a national championship, being at Senior Day, beating that team up north," said Rolle, copying legendary Buckeyes coach Woody Hayes' line in regards to Michigan.
