LB Brian Rolle (Official Thread)

It's great to see that Rolle is stepping up and offering some solid advice to some of the younger players, this is the type of leadership that goes unnoticed, but is big in going forward with the future success of the program. It surely seems that this kid gets "it" and I think he'll do some big things for tOSU in the next couple of years.

It sure is nice to have JT recruiting quality, talented kids, with character and class, who put it on the line in the classroom and on the gridiron.

Immokalle grad thinks it's time to shine

By Craig Handel ? [email protected] ? August 19, 2009

He's one of the no-names at Ohio State University looking to make a name.
That chance will come soon enough.
Brian Rolle is one of the up-and-comers with the Buckeyes. The junior from Immokalee High School is making a strong push to be a starting linebacker.
With former stars A.J. Hawk, Bobby Carpenter and James Laurinaitis in the NFL, it'll be up to Rolle and others to continue the high standards in Columbus.
"We speak of no brain, no name, no worries," Rolle said. "It's a bunch of guys who are left. The big-name guys are gone. You don't have this or that. Nobody has a name. So we have a mindset we've developed where we're going to be greater than certain individuals."
Ohio State has three consecutive losses in Bowl Championship Series bowl games - including 2006 and 2007 for the national title. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 6 in the USA Today coaches' preseason Top 25.
On Sept. 12, they'll have a chance to make an early statement when No. 4 USC comes to town. Over the past few years, the Trojans have toyed with Big Ten teams and Ohio State is no exception.
When the Buckeyes went to Los Angeles last September, they were embarrassed 35-3.
"We got a feel for them," Rolle said of the Trojans. "Still, it's no excuse to get beat 35-3. Now we know how they play.
"I'll argue this to death, but people will be shocked after that game."
Versatile enough to play different linebacker positions, the 5-foot-11, 223-pounder is getting a lot of repetitions this fall in the middle.

How many TD's or long runs came from a run up the middle for Navy? Rolle is not big enough to play MLB!!

Most of those were the fault of the DL allowing holes being blown open. Neither of the TD runs up the middle from 15 or so yards out were touched by Rolle, so his size had nothing to do with them...but we'll be sure to pass on your analysis to Coach Tressel.

While I agree with you, I would have like to seen Spitler and B Rolle switched today when we could have used some more speed on the outside. That being said, you can't really complain about how Rolle played. The return, nine tackles, and couple beastly licks, even if only one of them was on a player with the ball.
