LB Brian Rolle (Official Thread)

Haven't read much about him this spring. With scum going to the spread and Illinois perfecting it, it seems Rolles's speed and hitting ability would be good against the spread.

Rolle had his knee scoped and has been limited. But no matter how you slice it there is a log jam at LB.

They(Illinois) played a near perfect game. And it STILL took a blown call to win it for them.
Makes you wonder what if that call had gone the other way?
But, give them credit for their best performance of last year.

Thanks - hope he recovers fully and can contribute this year. Yes, there are a lot of good linebackers - nice problem to have - hopefully the coaches can find ways to use all of their unique talents.

Even that wasn't "waxed". Barely converting on third down three or four times in a row isn't waxing you opponent. Wish we'd spied on Williams that last drive.

Well, maybe not a full Brazilian Waxing, but one could argue they sure yanked us by the the short hairs... :wink2: ... Ouch!

They were a mediocre team at best that we made look great, a huge underdog, and they won in the Horseshoe to boot - call it what you will.

Barely or not they moved the chains when it counted - we did not. A LB like Rolle (speed/hitting ability) would be an excellnt way to spy a spread QB like Williams.

Florida Sophmore increasing his rolle..............Rolle is looking forward to earning more playing time and currently checks in at 5-11 and 223 pounds while maintaining his 4.5 speed. Rolle has been working along side Ross Homan at the Will position.

I hope we see some more special teams play like last year. I like seeing the missle heading downfield...

I'd like to see Rolle get some reps occasionally to spill Homan. Just to see what hes got. He's got all the upside in the world. I'm not sure if he'll ever get the shot he deserves with this years LB class and the one we got coming in next year.

Homan is in and out of the game as he doesn't stay on the field all the time in passing downs, so the need to spell him isn't really needed...

Rolle will get his shot...I could see Homan moving to Freemans spot next year...

Rolle is always around the ball on punt and kickoff teams...

Rolle keeps rolling

The Brian Rolle show continued in practice, and it appears the junior linebacker is gaining more attention from the coaches. He made two huge hits in the special-teams scrimmage last week and had an eye-opening play late yesterday.

Rolle scooped up a fumbled handoff between Pryor and running back Brandon Saine and ran toward the goal line 60 yards away. Saine, a high school state sprint champion, ran him down inside the 5-yard line.

Darrell Hazell was asked what defensive player was standing out to him this spring. He did not hesitate one second.

By Mr. Ed on 21:24:14 04/17/09

He said:

"Brian Rolle. He's just been all over the field. He's explosive, quick, looks like he understands the game. He looks like to me that he's playing at a different speed than anyone else on the field right now. "

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Yesterday was the last chance for Ohio State football players to leave a lasting impression in the spring, and in front of a record 95,722, several did. Dispatch beat reporter Tim May picked out five newer faces who might help the cause, based on the way they wrapped up the spring

Brian Rolle, LB
Just as he had done all month in practice, he kept popping up where the ball was and getting in on tackles. He led all defenders with 11 tackles, eight of them solo. Unlike earlier scrimmages, though, there was not a defining, memorable pop. Rolle, 5 feet 11 and 221 pounds, showed why he will play more in the fall. He benefited from a shuffling in the linebacker ranks as Ross Homan, the only returning starter, sat out most contact drills because of a hamstring pull. Rolle played considerably at middle linebacker with Austin Spitler filling Homan's outside spot.

i still feel the same i did after the bowl game. if you move homan to SLB and make room for rolle i think that would be a perfect fit!! let sabino and spitler battle it out for the MLB position!! i have been a big fan of rolle since he stepped on campus!! not many people can lay the hits this guy can!!
