LB Brian Rolle (Official Thread)

I have enjoyed watching him play a lot this year on ST and Saturday. I like the way his motor runs. I did notice that he looks small but as long as he plays big then who cares.

Rolle may look small in stature...but he is one stacked dude at 5'11".

Has anyone noticed his head (especially w/ a helmet) is HUGE in proportion to his body? That noggin should be registered as a lethal weapon...

Good Lord...this kid bring it every play. He is nasty with a capital N.

I was at the game yesterday and came away really impressed with Rolle. I have really taken notice of his play as of the past few games, but he played excellent yesterday. The kid has "it", he has that uncoachable nose for the ball that will probably turn him into an all league kind of player. He's a treat to watch, glad to have him in Columbus.

He might break a TFL record for linebackers before he leaves here. He just has an uncanny ability to meet the ball carrier in the backfield.

He also might break the record for "ooooh" inspiring hits in a season before he's done too.

Immokalee's Rolle relishing playing time at No. 1 Ohio State
By SCOTT HOTARD

Friday, October 19, 2007

Brian Rolle is No. 36 for Ohio State, the same number he wore in high school. It's a tribute to brother William, who also sported those digits -- for Immokalee High, then Illinois State.

But these days, Rolle is bringing to mind a different No. 36. He's channeling Chris Spielman, the Dick Butkus of Ohio State football.

No, Rolle hasn't filled the stat sheet with Speilman-like numbers. He hasn't earned All-America honors, or even started a game at linebacker.

But man, those hits.

Santonio Homes was the last kid before Rolle, I saw play HS ball in Florida and thought to myself "what a stud he'll be for someone" then found out he was going to OSU.

Not that that takes any great insight or talent evaluation but like someone said above, players like Rolle and Holmes both have that "it", that makes them just jump off the screen at you.

Barring injury there is no way this kid isn't a star at OSU.

I hate wasting a post to reiterate what everyone has said...but Rolle has an outstanding motor. I honestly had doubts when I heard we signed him, but after seeing this kid go....I am glad to eat crow. He will indeed, barring injury be the next in what's become a tradition at OSU....stud LBs.

Buckeyes, Rolle in good spot

This week, Brian Rolle is a fan.

No watching film, no putting on pads, no tackling.

He?ll be watching, though, and maybe doing a little rooting.

?I?m getting away from football and being with family,? said Rolle, who already was back in Immokalee on Tuesday after being a key contributor on Ohio State?s Big Ten championship team. ?Kansas-Missouri, I?ll try to put most of my attention on that.?

For Rolle, a true freshman linebacker who made 18 tackles, this season has been a mix of emotions.

On one hand, he saw a lot of time for a true freshman, especially on special teams. On the other, he was a little frustrated that he didn?t play linebacker more. But he also realizes that the players in front of him are pretty good because they?re the core of one of the country?s best defenses.

?I feel blessed,? he said. ?But next year I have to step it up a bit.?
