LB Bobby Carpenter (All B1G, National Champion)

though there is hardly anything positive that can be spun from carpenter's injury, at least laurinaitis and possibly one or two more linebackers will get some experience in another crucial game before next year. i wish that those players could get experience another way, however. it was very disconcerting to see carpenter so emotionally distraught when he returned to the sidelines. carp would have surely brought hell and its fury to henne.

Damn shame to see Carp miss all but one snap of his last scUM game. Carp is a first class kid and he will go on the first day of the draft. No doubt about it.

But this game had to mean so much to him. I feel for him. In a few years, when he comes in as an honorary captain, maybe it will be at the outhouse where his pregame speech will propel the Bucks to yey another win over the weasels.

Fibula Fractures
The fibula runs parallel to the tibia on the outside of the lower leg, but is smaller. The fibula usually fractures at the same time as the tibia. When only the fibula fractures, it is usually because of a direct blow to the side of the leg or an extreme sideways bend at the ankle or knee.
When only a fibula fractures, it usually does not cause long-term complications. Rarely, when the segments of broken bone are separated significantly by the injury, one of the nerves to the foot may be injured, causing foot drop, a condition in which the foot hangs limp at the ankle and drags on the ground during walking.

The average healing time for this fracture is 4 to 6 weeks.

RISK INCREASES WITH

--------------------

Contact sports such as football, soccer or hockey.
History of bone or joint disease, especially osteoporosis.
Obesity.
Poor nutrition, especially calcium deficiency.

he "might" be back for the bowl game... might not. depends on the bowl we get invited to. depends on carps heal time. depends on whether or not he is to damn bullheaded to admit he isn't ready to play. i would say he shouldn't play in the bowl game. just not going to be enough time for it to heal. though if it were me... id play . but im not very smart so... :p

Guys, just know this, Bobby has playing with a bigger injury than was made public. It was not Rumor-Mill stuff as it did not need to be public knowledge, but it is the stuff that makes legends.

Carp wasn't concerned about his future in the NFL, pain, or anything...just the team. He was advised to sit and refused.

After the season is over, maybe some more info will be revealed about the extent of his injuries this season, but give a toast to a true Buckeye tonight.

You could tell at times, when he would limp off the field, and when he was cruisin around the end, It was just sad to see him not be able to be on the field and finish his career off on this win.

I just hope he will be ok come bowl game.

Its been fractured since early in the season.

I believe it was you who hinted to a bigger injury for Carp earlier this year. I'm not really surprised he played through a serious injury considering some of the stories his dad shared about the violence in their house with the three boys.

I hope he takes the proper amount of time to heal for his career and not risk his future for a bowl game.

Tribute to Bobby Carpenter

There should be a medal for this.
  • Senior
  • Never a whiff of trouble with the law
  • No academic uncertainty
  • No suspensions for "breaking team rules"
  • Warrior - Total Fucking Warrior
  • Great Attitude
  • Leader
  • Crowd Instigator - How many of you responded to Bobby raising his arms by raising your voice, even if you were on your couch at home?
  • QB annihilator
  • Run stuffer
  • Never failed to exude class and maturity
  • Played all season with an injury
  • THREE pair of Gold Pants
  • Made the tackle on the opening kick-off of his 1st game of eligibility (Texas Tech - 2002)
And what does he get for all of this? On the first play of THE GAME in his SENIOR FUCKING YEAR he gets injured. He can't participate in THE GAME that his coach calls "What being a Buckeye is all about".

And did you notice when he was hobbling down the tunnel on the crutches? He wasn't crying at that point. It wasn't until he looked into his teammates eyes that he lost it. Total Team Player. Total Buckeye.

How many of you honestly believe that this game would have been as close had Bobby Carpenter been chasing Henne all day? How many of you would have traded all the beer you drank yesterday to have seen BC obliterate Henne just once? How many of you can even imagine how much more Bobby himself wished for that?

The U.S. military has the Purple Heart. Yesterday, Bobby Carpenter won the Scarlet Heart.

He had our hearts long before that.

Get Well Soon Bobby. We love you for what you've meant to us for four glorious years. Have a great career in the NFL, and God Bless.

It's a shame his career had to end like this since he was the definition of what being a Buckeye is all about. You could tell he was hurt by his facial expression when he came out of the locker room knowing he wouldn't be able to play. Hats off to a great Buckeye.

Here is hoping that Bobby C gets well soon, and can don the Scarlet & Grey one more time during a BCS Bowl game.

A great Buckeye Backer, a class act and a credit to the football program and University as a whole.

I for one would not want to risk his injury becoming more severe if he had the option to play in the Bowl game. We all know that if the option is there, no matter the risk, HE would choose to run out onto the field and go to war beside his friends. Bobby has done so much for this football team, I would NOT want to see his injury become much more serious...
