Congrats to Andrew and his family. Sorry the photos aren't the greatest...I'm no jwinslow  Things I took away from the announcement, some of which have already been reported. This is all going from memory, so I hope I don't misqoute anything.

First of all, Andrew is very humble. No hat games played at this announcement. In fact, Andrew didn't even announce the choice, as it was displayed on the scoreboard. The presser was held right after practice, with Andrew participating until the last play. Gave special recognition to Coaches Tressel and Fickell. He said ever since the Michigan game he knew he'd "die to be Buckeye." He did say he wished he could attend each of his final schools for one semester. Brewster deserves major props for recruiting Andrew..."out of the blue Michael Brewster from Florida called me one day" and Andrew admitted that the current recruits had a big impact on his decision. Pryor and Hale are definitely priorities for the recruits in this class.

It's obvious Notre Dame made a late last ditch effort to get him and that they were second. He talked about riding around the ND campus with Weis in his golf cart last weekend and how much he enjoyed that. When asked what stood out about Ohio State, he said quickly...the people, from the fans, to the players, to the coaches. He feels this will be the best recruiting class in the nation, regardless of size and he wanted to tell the people of Columbus that they're coming to win a title. He hopes that Laurinaitis stays for another year so that he can learn from him, just like James learned from Hawk and Carpenter. ND told him he'd play the mike, but OSU has said he can play any of the three and allowed him to be flexible. He's ready for the "NFL like atomosphere" in Columbus (asked by a Pittsburgh television reporter). Tressel definitely made an impression on Mom. VERY glowing remarks from her.

One last thing, this kid smiled the entire time he was giving his interviews, never stopped. Seems truly happy to be a Buckeye!! Just like the rest of Buckeye Nation is happy that Andrew Sweat is a Buckeye!!

Great pics Holybuckeye33 - did anyone catch in the lower left hand corner of the scoreboard? I believe it reads "Sweat Law Offices", which I assume must be the father's practice which he mentioned taking over.

PS - I wonder if Andy Miller played a role in this commitment? Aren't they from the same high school? I know they're from the same town...

Thank you. Yes, it is one and the same. But let's not give Mr. Sweat too much free publicity...there are other attorneys in Washington that have to make a living you know. :wink2: Regarding Andy Miller, I knew I would forget something in that post. Yes they are from the same high school and Sweat mentioned Miller when talking about being comfortable with OSU and about the "people" and mentioned that as a positive factor for OSU. One more thing (I'm sure I'll remember more later though) none of the coaches, even Tressel, knew the decision until after the announcement.
