A.J. Hawk is an oustanding linebacker that has an opportunity to take the Butkus, Lombardi, and Walter Camp awards. Not only may he become a well decorated linebacker, it is still possible he returns for his senior year. So if he continues his wreckless assault on opposing players and becomes deserving of his own jersey retirement, how will it be handled?
You beat me to it! lol.MililaniBuckeye said:Think about how silly (and that's putting it mildly) what you're saying is. All--repeat, that's all--of the others who have had their numbers retired (Horvath, Janowicz, Cassady, Griffin, and George) were Heisman Trophy winners. Hawk may win a defensive award, but won't win the Heisman, so this is a totally moot point. Harley will be the only non-Heisman winner to be so honored, because his fantastic performance directly led to the building of the very stadium in which he will be honored...had the Heisman Trophy existed during his time, he surely would have won it also. Bottom line, if you don't win a Heisman (aside from Harley), you won't get your number retired.
