I got a funny aj hawk story here.

Today in my English class, my teacher asked us if we knew who aj hawk was. A few people replied yes, and she went on to explain that she was friends with hawks english teacher when he was a junior. Ajs teacher said that he was the nicest kid, intelligent, and very friendly, he also never behaved badly. We are starting a play called "The Crucible," and my teacher went on to tell us how aj volunteered himeself for a part. She then said that aj was so into the play, that he used to dress up into something different almost every single day, he also perfected the british accent that his character possessed.

Man! Looks like our Defense was pretty damn dominant in the 70s.

I can't imagine how many 20 tackle games AJ would have had in that era where people were running the ball a lot more than nowadays. The guy has a nose for the football like few people I have seen. I can't stand Ray Lewis, but he is always around the ball and at least cleaning up a tackle if not making the initial hit and making plays, and AJ has that gift. He will be sorely missed after this year, not only for his exceptional talent, but also his heart. That kid leaves everything on the field, it doesn't matter if we are playing Indiana. At least we got 10 games left with him.

that doesn't suprise me. besides being in awe of his playing ability, he seems to at least compose himself off the field, and I saw a couple of interviews with him where he seemed level headed. He knows when to turn it on though. Derrick for the Horns last year was a freak. but he was different. AJ is a true LB and one of the best I have seen in my limited years of following CFB. I serioulsy hope he gets consideration for the Heisman, you know that you are an extreme badasssss if you are a defensive candidate for the heisman.

Also funny that he put so much effort into the crucible, he must be of the mold of person that when they set their mind on something they go full speed ahead and commit fully, like when he was tackling Vince. Not many have that much success doing it solo. You have to just love players of that caliber and mindset. I have always enjoyed Chris Speilman and his attitude, and hope that Hawk becomes the same type of player. I am just glad that he didn't have 29 against us.

The original post asked for an old fart and I think there are only a couple older than me on this net (62) I go back to Ike Kelly... the first era when college defense got out of the Oklahoma defense with 6 down lineman and began to rely on linebackers. I don't know if AJ is the best, but I can't say i saw anyone who played any harder or with better results... does that answer the question?

if we had won sat night, that game alone would have made him a lock for the butkus. he'll still get it, but he had an amazing game that would have been elevated to god-like status had we won. i don't think anyone in the media honestly expected our lb core to shut down vy like that. texas should probably check vy out, i think he has a concussion. those last few hits by hawk and expecially carp hurt him bad i think.

i think i heard somewhere that he suffered two or three mild concusions in during the game because of hits from hawk
