Speaking of Packers, A.J. Hawk was the fifth pick in the 2006 draft with the Packers coming off a dismal 2005 4-12 campaign. He was supposed to turn the defense around with his playmaking ability. So far, he has been the epitome of solid but not spectacular.
However, this season Hawk is the only player in the top 20 in tackles (11th) who has more than one sack. On the flipside he is tied for eighth in the league with two sacks, both this past week against Detroit.
I hope he shows up for the interview, punches him in the mouth, then leaves.AJ will be on Jim Rome is Burning tomorrow Thursday, September 18.

?The only thing that can hurt us is if we let this linger on, and we get down on it and worry about it too much,?? said linebacker A.J. Hawk. ?It?s something where we just have to make sure we move on. We fix this quick.??

Green Bay - He is solid. Dependable. Durable. We know this about third-year linebacker A.J. Hawk. No. 50 is a sure tackler rarely caught out of position who has played with maturity even though he is still relatively young.
Teammates have nothing bad to say about the guy. Coaches take comfort in knowing what they have in Hawk and count on it every week. So it?s hard to figure out what more Hawk can do short of making the kind of plays that might get him a little more attention.
?Linebacker all the way around it is under-appreciated,? Hawk?s teammate Nick Barnett said. ?I?m not talking linebacker that lines up at defensive end and blitzes. I don?t even consider that linebacker ? they get a lot of credit and the things that get a lot of attention in the NFL are sacks and interceptions.

Counterpoint: Tim Froberg says A.J. Hawk
Every time I attend a movie, A.J. Hawk pops up on the big screen and tells me to shut off my cell phone.
I don?t see the soft-spoken Hawk ever getting to Hollywood, but he might make it to Honolulu as a Pro Bowl player if he keeps popping up whenever a stop or a big play is needed on defense.
Thirty-five games into a highly anticipated career, Hawk finally is displaying the playmaking skills that Green Bay fans envisioned when Ted Thompson snagged him with the fifth overall pick in the 2006 draft.
Hawk leads the Packers with 26 tackles ? 11 more than 2007-08 leader Nick Barnett ? and is showing a much-improved pass rush with two sacks.
What makes him my choice for the team?s most pleasant surprise is that Hawk had been nothing more than a solid but unspectacular linebacker his first two NFL seasons.

Hopefully this injury isn't serious and he can continue improving, and possibly one of the elite OLBs in the NFL.
Hawk shows progress
Linebacker A.J. Hawk?s injured groin improved enough to allow him to go through the jog-through portion of Wednesday?s practice, but McCarthy essentially said it would be a game-time decision whether or not he plays this week.
Hawk, who was injured in Sunday?s loss, was listed as a limited participant in practice. He left the field after the opening period to receive treatment.
?I think A.J. will do everything he possibly can to play,? McCarthy said. ?We?ll give him every chance to get ready to play.?
