Glory. One of those movies I watch whenever I see it in the guide. The final charge during the battle scene at the end always gives me goosebumps.

Not to mention the all-star cast; and yes I agree the last scene is something else!

When we flew to Saudi for DS we were on a chartered 747...so stewardesses, movies, the whole shebang.

The last movie they showed before we landed in Riyadh was Glory.

Keep in mind this was when we believed we were going to be thrown into combat against an advancing Iraqi army within days.

Very cheerful send off.

Hugo:

Outstanding cinematography. Hopefully Scorcese's brilliant eye raises the bar for how to use 3D cameras. The shots down the stairwells & utility railways were great, as well as the shots from behind the clocks.

Very good movie. Having read the book, I was rather miffed that they removed Etienne, who is integral to the story. They also changed the girl's character and removed some of her mischief which really made her role deeper in the story.

I would highly recommend the movie. The changes didn't ruin it, it was just written so perfectly for a movie - a student of film could've made it (albeit without some of those camera angles) - that the changes were unnecessary and weakened it a bit.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox

Not a kid's film (though they can watch), also not another animated film (stop action, and the slightly stuttered animation - vs fancy Pixar - adds to the feel and humor of the movie).

If you want a fresh breath of air, watch this movie. Qwirky, fun, odd. Independent film charm without being over the top.

8.5 out of 10 (Hugo gets about the same)

"The Fantastic Mr. Fox" - such a Wes Anderson movie; great voice work by George Clooney, Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman; I also loved some of the secondary characters like Kylie and acoustic-bandleader Petey. Maybe not for everyone (though my wife who doesn't get Anderson's appeal did like it), but definitely one of the better movies I've seen in awhile.
Seconded.

The secondary characters were great, the talented cousin, William Dafoe's rat, etc.

The Town........Jeremy Renner stole this movie. Doesn't get enough run as a good actor.

Last of the Mohicans.......Picked it up on BluRay. One of my favorite movies when it came out, and it's held up over time. Still enjoyable.

The Eagle........Was not what I expected, but actually enjoyed it.

Saw The Town and The Eagle as well and I enjoyed both. Really enjoyed The Town though. My 16 month old daughter loved the sound of the automatic gunfire for some reason lol.

I thought for sure he was going to die in that little creek while Esca went on with The Eagle and made it back to the Wall. The thought of former 9th Legion members in their 50's taking on the Seals and winning was a bit over the top for me........But I still enjoyed it

The Help. Very good flick, well worth watching.

I knew virtually nothing about it, which is my ideal perspective before watching a movie.

It was better than I expected, and the acting was excellent all-around. Octavia Spencer was great, as was Bryce Dallas Howard.
