I had never heard of I Am Legend before the movie came out.

Another vote for reading Matheson's novella. :)

The original movie adaptation - The Last Man on Earth w/Vincent Price is available on youtube (it was also recently released on DVD)...

If you remember Omega Man w/Charlton Heston it was also based on the same story.

"The Golden Compass" Very interesting movie filled with lots of metaphor.
First in a trilogy.

I am constantly astonished by the beauty and ability of Nicole Kidman.

Not really a kids movie.

A note for our religious members who may be easily offended:

The Golden Compass is from a series of books which was specifically written by an atheist as an anti-christian response to Lewis's Narnia.

Huh, I've read that Golden Compass has been a bust at the box office. Is that true? The movie must suck or be unappealing if nobody wants to pay to see it.

Is this retaliation as childish as it sounds?

Nothing sells like a little controversy!

And should we be shocked at the highly negative reactions of some here? Especially by those who obviously haven't even seen the movie?

If the subject matter upsets you(the role of organized religion in controlling peoples lives) then please, don't go see it.
