This was on STARZ.

Hey, I use to watch Rocky & Bullwinkle (back in 1959 - 1964).

It wasn't a GREAT comedy and wasn't a GREAT serious movie either; but it was an interesting flick. I know it got shitty reviews; however, it wasn't all that bad. It may not have been worth what you would pay at a theater when it first came out; but for $1.50 at the Bethel Rd. Cinemark in Columbus it was pretty good. It had several big name stars including Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, and Kate Hudson. Bill Murray plays a typical Bill Murray character, a down and out rock star manager who takes his client/singer to Afghanistan to perform. It's the only gig he can get her. She abandons him there and he ends up finding a local talent (i.e. an Afganistan girl). He gets the girl on their TV talent show in spit of the strict muslim rules about not allowing women to sing on TV and/or to show their face in public for that matter, etc. It looked like the film was done in an actual Afghan war zone; but I think it was filmed in Morocco.

Interesting articles about the film: http://www.bustle.com/articles/1180...tory-but-its-inspired-by-a-tv-show-youd-never

Spoiler alert: They finally catch Whitey Bulger and he is in prison.

After seeing movies like this one, Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands, Lone Ranger, Alice In Wonderland, etc. Just what does Johnny Depp look like in real life? :sneaky:

I saw Spectre as well.

It definitely felt like a return to the Bond films of old (more gadgets, exotic locations, etc.) after the more realistic atmosphere of the previous three movies. If nothing else, go for the opening sequence; it's amazing. I personally am a huge fan of Daniel Craig as Bond and hope he returns for another movie. So far I'd rank his films as follows:

1) Skyfall
2) Casino Royale
3) Spectre

*Huge gap*

4) Quantum of Solace

Beasts of No Nation: This is the Netflix release about the child soldier in an unnamed African civil war. In short, yes, it is as good as it looked in the previews. I will warn, without giving anything away, this is not a film that you will enjoy, in the traditional sense. Rather, in a Schindlers List kind of way, you experience it. If war is hell, then war in a third world country is something entirely beyond that. The famous lead actor is terrific, of course, but the child actor will blow you away. Incredible how effective he could be with this material. 4.5/5

Focus. Exceptionally low expectations but I thought it was ok if you didn't over-think it. I'm not a Will Smith but I thought he did a pretty good job and Margot Robbie is, well... Margot Robbie.
Same. As a lazy holiday rental from the library, I thought it was enjoyable.

p.s. It's disturbing how similar Margot is to Emma Stone. Maybe they got a group rate?
