I agree with all you said except the bold. Infinity War is not going to be the end of the MCU. It's the end of phase 3.

Isn't that currently all that is "planned" for the MCU?

I obviously expect there to be movies in the MCU after the second Infinity War, but as they've currently laid it all out Avengers: Infinity War Part II is the "finale" of Phase 3 and their current overall arc with this set of characters and this total storyline. At least that's how I'm interpreting it.

Maybe someday Marvel Studios can get back full rights to the X-Men and reboot the whole series as another 3 phase plan ending with "Apocalypse".

It's the end of the Thanos arc, but it won't be the last appearance for all the characters. Some, I'm sure it will be, but not all.

Starting tonight's movie drinking marathon with Apocalypse Now. Excellent.

"Montage of Heck", the Kurt Cobain documentary on HBO last night. Really visually interesting, the way they animated Cobain's handwritten journals and audio recordings. He comes across as a basically nice guy who likes making music but is absolutely bent on debasing and destroying himself. Heroin are bad, mmkay?

The Montage of Heck doc was incredible. Prompted me to listen to Nevermind and the MTV Unplugged albums today. And I agree, the cell shaded animations over his audio diaries were really stunning, particularly the revelation that he had already attempted suicide once while in high school.

The big, BIG near-unforgivable negative mark for the documentary was the complete absence of Tobi Vail. They had so much material included with Tracy Marander & Courtney Love, but unless I zoned out there was nothing about Tobi Vail, who was the girl Kurt dated between his time with Tracy and marrying Courtney, and about whom half the songs on Nevermind are about, specifically all the classic, angry ones that everyone loves. Come as You Are, Lithium, Drain You and Lounge Act were all written about her.

Smells Like Teen Spirit was also named for her, though Kurt misunderstood the phrase because at the time when David Grohl's girlfriend spray painted "Kurt smells like Teen Spirit" over his bed, he did not know that Teen Spirit was the brand of deodorant Tobi used. He actually mistook it for some deep, philosophical thing.

Interesting... I didn't follow Nirvana closely enough at the time to know much of Cobain's personal life, so I never heard of her... but, after quickly skimming her wikipedia page, that does explain the "riot grrls" that popped up in his notebooks--I wondered out loud where that came from.
