I really like the Sherlock Holmes flicks, I think a new one is supposed to be dropping sometime as well

I have mixed feelings about the Sherlock Holmes movies. I like the change from the stereotype of the deerstalker wearing, staid upper crust Brit wielding a magnifying glass...but they did tend to get out of hand trying to be action flicks (big studio influence and all that).

My favorite Holmes is the contemporary BBC series. Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect.

I'm rewatching that series right now. He is really good.


I have also watched a few episodes of Elementary on CBS. I like that guy as well. He comes across more Cumberbatchesque. But I can't wrap my mind around Lucy Leu playing Watson. That just doesn't work for me.

I really like him as well. The recovering addict angle is well played. At first I was annoyed with the Lucy Liu but started to get used to her in the roll...now I'm back to being annoyed. They're trying too hard to make her Watson just as competent as Holmes, to the point where she is beginning to upstage him. I want to watch Sherlock Holmes, not the gurl power detective hour (and of course Moriarty had to be fem too).

For the latter I turn to Veronica Mars, which was IMO the best US 'detective' show of the 21st Century (with the possible exception of Psych).
