Overall, a decent adaptation of a dark little musical. It could have been much darker and violent and I would have been okay with that, but I knew Disney wouldn't go Tarantino on it. A little slow through the middle, but picks up more speed as everything goes wrong. Meryl Streep is excellent and the rest of the cast is at least solid. Johnny Depp was......Johnny Depp. Shocking. Captain Kirk did make for an appropriately douchey Prince Charming. I thought it would be worth seeing in the theatre -- in hindsight, it would have been fine as a PPV rental in 6 months or even wait for it to hit Netflix next year. Even though he can go way overboard and really eff things up, I wish Tim Burton had done this instead of Disney. It's kind of a waste to have it Disneyed-up for children.

Also, how has Anna Kendrick escaped my notice over however many years she's been around? My word....that's an attractive young woman.

Amazingly entertaining for a black-and-white silent film released in 2012.

Glad my wife took out the DVD. Berenice Bejo is incredibly beautiful.

I vetoed that on Sunday night in favor of The Lego Movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hilarious banter and scenes, outlandish action, extremely outlandish villains and world. My wife called it a very bad movie that was hilarious and fun. I wouldn't call it bad but the plot and world was easily the most out there of any comic book movies.

It also took awhile to get good (funny).

It's a lot of fun when it is embracing it's role as comedic, ridiculous action. It's tedious and awkward when it tries to be a climactic thriller.

Watched the first 2 in The Hobbit trilogy sequential this last weekend. Bought the HD extended versions from Amazon Prime. Had seen Unexpected Journey in the theaters, but never got around to go to see The Desolation of Smaug. Figured I would catch up on the movies and then go see Battle of the Five Armies in the IMAX near by this weekend.

I read the books eons ago, and I like what Jackson is doing, but there seems to be something missing in the story that I just can't put my finger on.
Just watched the third one. I felt it was the best out of the Hobbit series. These movies seem to get better a second viewing IMO.

My expectations going in were low but it definitely exceeded them. Not a great movie but it had it's moments. A surprisingly solid supporting cast (Rob Corddry, Lt. Jim Dangle, Paul Scheer, Anna Gasteyer, Ken Jeong & Tyler Labine) & plenty of Craig Robinson being Craig Robinson.
