My GF and I actually both liked Olympus has Fallen, but we also went in with very low expectations. It's a cheesy action movie, nothing more. I like Gerard Butler so I guess that helps in my case, but I still don't see how one can think it's as bad as any of the other crap Hollywood totes out there.

Another thing about this movie, is they do a great job of capturing the essence of Pennsyltucky. I had to convince my wife that there really is a big state full of people like that.

Agreed, every single cliche from any action movie was front stage and center. I was in my most drunk, masculine-driven state and still could not enjoy it. If that movie wasn't bad enough, they release the exact same movie 6 months later (don't remember the name of it, it also looks like garbage).

I marked it because I thought it would be a good movie to really try out my new Polk Audio 5.1 speakers, and it was good for that. For anyone really looking to put your home theater dials on 11, this will shake the hokeing walls.

And every time a dance movie comes out, the other race comes out with their own version (i.e. black dance movie comes out, white version comes right on its heels). They referenced it on Community and they were spot on. Thanks for the reference though, the most obvious versions I have seen were Friends with Benefits/No Strings Attached and White House Down/Olympus has Fallen.

I've heard basically that competing film companies just do it not to be outdone but why not compete with something slightly different.
