The movie had a real wierd premise (dead guy's brain is "source coded" to take over the body of someone else 8 minutes before he is to die....over and over again). I'm not really sure it was worth the $1 I paid to see it.

Holy God, fcuking Bridesmaids last night. Without question the most tedious, insipid movie I've ever seen. Absolute waste of two hours of my life. No matter how your significant other begs/threatens, don't do it.

I mean, if you're going to put guys through having to go see a movie like this one, at least have the decency to get semi-hot actresses. But, NO, no we're going to cast two Saturday Night Live hags in the main roles and make you watch them whine and moan for two hours... damnit, I'm still pissed off about this one...

That's a bit of an exaggeration, no?

My expectations of the movie didn't change from the first trailer I saw to when I entered the theater. They were very, very low. But for a chick-flick disguised as a comedy it wasn't too awful. There were some memorably funny moments, but I think it kind of suffered from trying to hard to have a point about halfway through.

It's not a movie I would avoid like the plague, but I wouldn't intentionally see it again either.

Which is an even harsher indictment of the movie than his review. Considering you don't avoid almost any chick flicks, I think most should steer clear.

The trailers looked horrendous.

Finally saw Secretariat last night. I mean, it was decent...I think Roger Ebert slobbered all over this one a bit too much, but it was decent. I guess the thing that limited it for me was that every character was either an angel or a complete flaming asshole...that is quite a bit too black and white for me for a historical biopic of any kind, even a "feel good" one. I thought Seabiscuit was much better.
I thought it was incredibly poor given that the plot and roles have been done a hundred times before yet they failed to cast or write property for almost every character.

The lead character was very forced and not convincing or powerful in her resolve. She was just stubborn but polite when she should have set the tone. Such a basic role handled poorly. Maybe she should pause, suck in another emotional breath and spin her eyes to express being overwhelmed. She did this at least 30 times in the movie.

When Malkovich first critiqued the horse, it seemed he would be the one good character in the movie, but that character basically disappeared as the movie progressed.

The pre race press conference "feuds" with the other owner were laughably bad. Not because of the lines, but how they were delivered. Those scenes had the delivery and flow of a politician guest starring on SNL.

I enjoy family films and can stomach a painfully cheesy movie. But this one had the polish, writing and appeal of a hallmark movie, and even that might be generous.

What a shame to disgrace such a legendary story with this pile of mediocrity, especially with so many talented actors misused.

I hate when that happens.
