Just rewatched I Am Legend for the third time, still really like it. IDK how great the movie is to others, but I always get caught up in "how would I attempt to survive if" scenarios which are fresh each viewing.

I love the first half but hate the second half. It pisses all over the source material.

That's the version I watch, and yes its much better, but it still strays far away from the literal material. I understand why they did so however, I don't think the books plot would have passed in movie format.

I have a lot more faith in the audience than Hollywood producers do.

I Am Legend is a literary classic specifically because of the ending, throwing that away defeats the entire purpose of the story. Without it the movie is just another generic post apocalyptic story...and in this case it's one that's being deceitful in using the original story's name recognition.

Wil Smith & Co did the same thing with I Am Robot.
