"Burn After Reading"

Clever updating of the old average-joe-caught-up-in-a-spy-story, where the spies are as confused as the joes. Fun movie, but not nearly as funny as I expected given the cast and writer/directors. The final scene wrapped it up nicely, though.

The more you think about it, the funnier it is. That's the way it was for me (and others), anyways.

I think it's similar to The Big Lebowski in a sense that it gets better the more you watch it. The final scene is excellent.

I thought there were a lot of funny situations and themes, but a lot of the dialogue (and Brad Pitt's character who was good but not as hilarious as I'd heard) just didn't live up to my expectations (unlike Lebowski, which has some of the all-time funniest dialogue in film). The best scenes were the ones in the CIA offices when they were trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

Did you get a chance to watch it?

Anyone seen any Takahi Miike films? More specifically Ichi the Killer or Audition. I've heard Audition described to me so many times I feel like I've seen it already but I am looking forward to seeing if it really is at stomach-turning as they say.

Seen them all and I'm a huge fan. Eli Roth got him to do a cameo in Hostel. Ichi is a tour de force

Agree with everything you said. I still think that you'll think more highly of it a little down the road.

Time will tell I guess. :tongue2:

Gran Torino

Liked the movie, liked the story. Had some issues with some of the story, but nothing too serious. A good watch. Eastwood is still a bad ass.

He was good, but I'm not sure how good. I almost wonder if they cast the worst actors they could find for the other roles just to make viewers forget that Eastwood is playing the same guy he plays in 90.82% of his roles. Man, was the rest of the cast awful. I can't believe there aren't any decent Laotian or Vietnamese actors out there. Hell, any Asian will work. Cast Jackie Chan as Thao and Lucy Liu as Sue. Chow Yun-Fat and Jet Li as the gang members. White people won't even know the difference.

Have two very different films lined up tonight since there is not OSU or Cavs basketball game...

Haven't seen it in a few years and have never seen the Fully Baked edition. Don't judge.

Love this film...again, one I haven't seen in years and just feel like bumping into the rotation.

Half-Baked?! Now you're talking my kind of movie. That is a classic. Steven Wright as "The Guy on the Couch" is one of the most underrated, subtle, hilarious characters in film in the last fifteen years.

Heck yeah. Ichi is amazing, and Audition has a couple of those scenes where you almost have to turn your head. Especially the end.

I saw Unborn, and it sucked. They really have to stop remaking the Japanese flicks. Now They decided to remake Tale of 2 Sisters, which is possibly my favorite Asian movie. Am sure they will ruin it too.

I said almost the same thing last week:

Saw a preview for The Uninvited and decided to check it out on Wiki...turns our it is a remake of A Tale of Two Sisters which, if you don't mind subtitles, is one of the best foreign horror films I have ever seen. Hopefully this is not just another feeble attempt to recreate another Asian horror classic (The Ring, Dark Water, The Grudge, The Eye, Pulse, etc.).

I got my English subtitle copy of converted to my iPod...still having trouble getting Oldboy moved over...I am using VLC to try and create a new file with the subtitles before converting it to MP4 but it isn't working for me so far.

They are remaking it also. However its not a remake of the movie, but just a adaptation of the original comic books. Also love sympathy for mr vengeance and lady vengeance. Both amazing movies. Almost kinda like very bad things, but better. highly recommend for those who havent seen, if ya can stand subtitles.
