So the special edition of Raging Bull was at work for $5.99.. I just bought the regular version for $8.99. I exchanged the one I bought for the $5.99 special edition, and also got Taxi Driver. After my credit/employee discount the total was $6.29.

Actually saw this awhile ago but since it's coming out tomorrow...

Tropic Thunder

Surprisingly well done satire about Hollywood in general and Hollywood actors specifically.

Robert Downey Jr is awesome. Ben Stiller is actually funny (mainly because he's lampooning his own rep) & Jack Black is Jack Black with his excesses kept in check.

It's funny, real funny

I didn't get a chance to watch the whole movie, but it was enough to know that I do want to rent and watch it the whole way through!!!

Taxi Driver

Loved it. Wasn't sure if I liked Travis Bickle or not. I think that's the point. :tongue2:

Best De Niro performance.. I'm not sure how he can do any better, but from what I hear from everyone, he does a better job in Raging Bull. I used to think Casino was De Niro at his best. Pretty safe to say that I love Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese.

It's weird watching all these classic movies close together. Each one seems to top the previous. My top 10 list changes weekly at this point.

I completely agree with you on the De Niro comment!! My personal opinion is that no one will ever top the duo of De Niro and Ray Liotta in Goodfellas. I don't know what in the world it is about that movie, but I could watch it at least once a week for the next 40 years and never get bored with it. That and the 1st two of the GodFather trilogy, but Pacino is a whole other thread in itself!!!

Liotta and De Niro is unbeatable.. and they have Joe Pesci too. Nice little trio there. :tongue2:

The only duo that might be better than De Niro and Liotta is De Niro and Pacino in Heat. But I'm pretty sure I'd still go with De Niro and Liotta. Goodfellas is much better.

Instead of choosing, what I like to do is clear most of a weekend. It's always good to start out with the Godfather Trilogy, then Goodfellas, Casino, Heat, and for some reason I usually throw in Devil's Advocate torwards the end of the mix. Pacino makes Satan himself look pretty moral in that flick!! Plus, it never hurts to stare at Keanu Reeves for a couple of hours, which I'm sure you care nothing about, but I felt it needed to be said!! :tongue2:

Raging Bull. I liked it, but I guess it didn't meet my expectations. But those were unreasonably high. :tongue2:

1) Goodfellas (10/10)
2) Taxi Driver (10/10)
3) The Departed (10/10)
4) Casino (9/10)
5) Raging Bull (8.5/10)

Scorsese's fifth best = most directors' best. De Niro's performance was fantastic. I liked that it was filmed in black and white. Wouldn't have the same feeling if it were color.
