Las Vegas Raiders (official thread)

Clearly a player who can help a team win is valued over a coach who isn't among the top-half of HCs in the league. The level of difficulty in replacing the man is a big factor. Some teams will always roll the dice and risk having a player or coach embarrass the organization, as long as they think it will give them a competitive advantage. Everyone takes the moral high ground when it doesn't personally cost them anything.

Oh yea. Players always get a insane benefit of the doubt when it comes to these things, even average ones for the most part unless they do something that really cant be ignored (or get obviously caught on vide).

Ray Rice was on the decline for example, but he probably coulda eeked out a few more years if they didn't get that video of him.

Yeah, clear proof is a big factor also. You're right about Ray Rice - everyone kind of knew what he did, but only when the video leaked was there a real public outcry. So certainly doing something bad on video - or a medium like email where you can't deny what you said - will magnify the public outrage.

I’m not sure if there’s ever been a more overrated NFL coach. He won a SB with someone else’s team and then never won another playoff game
He's definitely near the top of list if not at the top.

After winning the SB with Tony Dungy's team, he went 45-53 in Tampa (including playoffs), with just 2 postseason appearances in 6 years (0-2) and 22-31 with the Raiders with zero playoff appearances. So, over ~9.25 seasons after winning a ring, he was 67-84 with 2 postseason appearances. And, my God, read the article on what he's done to Vegas. His personnel decisions have been horrible. Plus, when he was fired by Tampa, they were in cap hell and it took them over a decade to dig out of that mess. He was an objectively bad coach/gm.

Awful, Henry Ruggs kills a person while allegedly driving impaired.

A sober reminded of why I don't fuck with alcohol anymore. You get to a certain point and you're no longer making decisions. Best person in the world could get blackout drunk and kill someone. I don't know what kind of guy Ruggs is, but his life is on a different course now and someone else is dead. Unreal.

supposedly He doesn’t drink… so impaired might be Weed in this case
