Stepfather: Ole Miss star Tunsil 'riding around with football agents'

laremy_414119_640x360.jpg

Laremy Tunsil's stepfather, Lindsey Miller, told authorities that the Thursday night fight he was in with his stepson followed an argument with Tunsil's mother over the All-SEC left tackle "riding around with football agents," according to a police report obtained by The Clarion-Ledger.

Tunsil was arrested Friday on charges of domestic violence against his stepfather after allegedly hitting him in what he claimed was an effort to protect his mother.

Miller claims Tunsil left the house that night in a yellow convertible, which also contained agents. Tunsil is allowed to meet with agents as long as he does not accept impermissible benefits, and Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze pointed out he was aware of such meetings in a statement he released to the paper:

"We are aware that Laremy and his family have met with potential agents, which is within his NCAA rights as a student-athlete," Freeze said. "Regarding the altercation, we will continue to gather facts and cooperate with the proper authorities."

NCAA now getting involved with Ole Miss and Laremy Tunsil

What sounds like a messy situation at home is now getting the NCAA to come knocking in Oxford, Mississippi. The Clarion-Ledger reports the NCAA has sent officials to Ole Miss on Friday to interview the stepfather of Rebels offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and his alleged connection to agents, which would be violations of the NCAA rules.

But on Thursday, Miller alleged to The Clarion-Ledger that in addition to the contact made by agents he is aware of violations that occurred during Tunsil's recruitment as well, including claims of falsified academic records and gifts made by the university.

Miller also alleges that the agents have provided Tunsil with other benefits outside of transportation, including gifts of cash, clothes, help with car insurance payments and more.

Oh how times have changed

In 1997 all of that was true and didn't cost Charles Woodson 1 second of playing time.

I'm sorry, but this is kind of no surprise, and I'm sure many saw this coming but didn't want to say anything. Ole Miss went from a bottom feeder to average school to all of the sudden getting the best players in the nation. And they STILL can't win big games and implode by mid season. Ole Miss is like MSU back in the day, but then suddenly Ole Miss has the 2013 class and had at top the best prospects at their respective positions. Idk, seemed shady, it was like they were cheating by looking over a kids shoulder, but then just said sxrew it I'll just stand over the smart kid and no one will see me cheat
