Seems odd to me that everyone who is fawning over USC (and don't get me wrong: a game in which you never need to punt is impressive from the offense perspective, regardless of opponent) is ignoring the fact they gave up 588 yards of total O to the Rainbow Warriors. That's just a shitload of yards. And Hawai'i had to punt only 3 times. So it looks to me like the defense (territory of the alleged genius Monte K) needs a lot of work.

What'd he say?

Talked about his arrogance and how he has been given everything without earning a thing. Said he lacked integrity, honesty, and has no loyalty...emphasized the NCAA violations and that he was part of a dirty regime at USC that hired him again, but is now fired.

I recognize the irony of Phil saying it, but to hear anyone say it so bluntly on a nationally televised pregame show was fantastic.

kind of off topic, but since Minnesota was playing USC today, I can ask it.

I'm sure you guys listen to Common Man and the Torgue. What's their problem/beef with Minnesota's head coach? There were really railing on him at one point today. Also said they'd like to have him back on the show so they could cuss him out some more or something.

what's the story with that?

Torg is from minnesota, plus I think they are kind of making fun of the fact that minnesota fired Glen Mason and hired Brewster to take the program to the next level, and Brewster makes Mason look like Fielding Yost.

I agree with alot of what Fulmer said, for a while i just kinda ignored all the Kiffin stuff and didnt really have an opinion until the Hawaii game. Right before halftime Hawaii drove down the field and scored aided by a huge late hit on the qb. But after that drive it was clear Hawaii had the confidence to make it a close game and that they could move the ball on USC. But what almost made me throw my remote through the tv was a reporter grabed Kiffin going into the half and said something like "Hawaii was able to move the ball on your defence late in the half what do you think they figured out?" His @##hole responce was "NOTHING. they learned we hit the quarterback late" I couldnt believe the complete lack of respect for anyone else in that comment and i hope all the moms of his recruits saw that and it turned their stomach like mine.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- An NFL arbitrator has denied a grievance filed by former Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin in an attempt to claim the lost salary he maintained he was still owed by the team.
Raiders executive John Herrera issued a statement to The Associated Press on Monday stating the ruling was an overwhelming victory for the Raiders.
In the statement, Herrera said the league stated that Kiffin showed "a stunning lack of concern" for the terms of his contract and for the rules of the club.
Kiffin was fired in September 2008 for cause because of what owner Al Davis described as acts of insubordination and lying by the coach.
Kiffin filed his grievance with the NFL in October 2008 to claim the lost salary he maintained he was still owed by the team for the remainder of his two-year contract.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/football/nfl/11/15/kiffin.raiders.ap/index.html#ixzz15THShDUX

Lane Kiffin mentioned in lawsuit against car dealer

7:17 PM, Dec 21, 2010 | comments

Former University of Tennessee head football coach Lane Kiffin's name is mentioned several times in a new lawsuit filed against a Knoxville car dealer.
A former employee of Toyota of Knoxville and Lexus of Knoxville, Mark Boling, filed the lawsuit this week.
Boling alleged he was fired after a long series of events, but the part that is noteworthy is that the suit mentioned a crash that happened in August of 2009, shortly before Kiffin's one season as the Vol's head coach.
In the suit, Boling claimed Kiffin was driving a $75,000 Lexus which belonged to the dealership when he crashed it into a ditch and hit a fence.
The suit also alleged the dealership's General Manager, Andy White, picked Kiffin up at the scene of the crash to keep Kiffin from being seen by law enforcement.
The lawsuit said the dealership filed a $29,188 estimate for repairs to the vehicle, but said Kiffin never reported the collision.

I am confused about USC's status. They did not go to a bowl, so that sanction was in effect.

However, their current recruiting class now stands at 25 - which would indicate the reductions are up in the air pending some sort of appeal. If so the smart move for Kiffin is to bring in some early enrollments to count against last year and load up as much as possible to make it through the reductions.

What confuses me is why quality players would want to be part of this. No bowl next year and handicapped the last three years of their college careers.

Go figure.
