Nyshier Oliver is facing a charge of shoplifting. The 18-year-old freshman defensive back was cited at 1:45 p.m. on Nov. 7, a few hours before the Volunteers hosted Memphis.

And on the SEC conference call last week, a couple of days after the shoplifting citation, Kiffin bragged about having a "clean program".

It seems odd that more than 2 days went by before Kiffin learned about the shoplifting citation. I don't think he's dumb enough to make that statement shortly after learning about it, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. :tongue2:

Knoxville News reporting that Hello Kiffen gave a radio interview ( Something called the "Sports Animal") and the subject of the SEC Championship game came up.

To quote his Doucheness:

"Florida has better players; Alabama has better coaches."

I swear, he wants to be Corch Meyers so bad that it is on his mind every second of the day. :slappy:And complimenting Bama in any way is not, NOT a Tennessee thing to do.

Report: NCAA investigating Vols recruiting

The N.C.A.A. is conducting a wide-ranging investigation into the University of Tennessee's football recruiting practices, according to interviews with several prospects, their family members and high school administrators. A significant part of the investigation is focused on the use of recruiting hostesses who have become folk heroes on Tennessee Internet message boards for their ability to help lure top recruits. In one case, hostesses traveled nearly 200 miles to attend a high school game in South Carolina in which at least three Tennessee recruits were playing.
New York Times

I said Kiffin would have them on probation inside of 3 years. Id like to move that up to 2.

So, Tennessee may be in trouble for their use of 'hostesses' in the recruiting game? Perhaps there's more to Cholly's firing than W-L record?

I can only assume the hostesses, when stopping for gas before making the return trip, were nice enough to say hello to the former UT recruits that played at South Carolina.

From the hostesses article:

According to the Times, hostesses attended a football game at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., one of the nation's best high school programs, where at least three potential Tennessee recruits were playing.
Marcus Lattimore, a running back who had made an unofficial visit to Tennessee but was not interested in attending the school, said the hostesses brought signs, including one that read, "Come to Tennessee," according to the report.
Two of Lattimore's high school teammates, Brandon Willis and Corey Miller, have orally committed to Tennessee. Lattimore said the hostesses were "real pretty, real nice and just real cool" and thinks they had "a lot" of influence in his teammates making oral commitments, according to the report.
"I haven't seen no other schools do that," Lattimore said, according to the report. "It's crazy."

Wouldn't showing up at kids' schools with signs be a recruiting violation? It's kind of tough to make the case that Tennessee didn't know about it - if the hostesses are organized by the school, the school would be obligated to ensure they know the rules, and responsible if they disregard those rules, right?

From the article:

The hostesses are considered representatives of the university, which would mean they could not recruit players off campus. Therefore, the visits may be considered violations of N.C.A.A. recruiting rules.

Because of their influence on recruits, the recruiting hostesses have become popular with Tennessee fans. Bryce Brown, the country?s top running back recruit last year, who is a freshman at Tennessee, was pictured on a social networking site last year with a hostess. Other Tennessee hostesses have publicly conversed with prospects through Facebook and MySpace.

Consider the rules we live by on this site.

If a potential prospect actually gets a BP username we all walk on eggshells in their recruiting thread.

Meanwhile Vols hostesses keep on sending sweet nothings via MySpace and Facebook. I'm sure the Twitter account history would be revealing these days.
