Lamarcus Joyner (DB New York Jets)

"It?s not personal,? he said. ?It?s not Matt Elam. I just want that number one spot period. That?s my goal. I?m proving it. I?m most definitely going to prove it.?

Yea, well if he wants to be number 1 he had better not commit to OSU until signing day. Any sooner and they'll drop him to the 20's or so.

And I not worried about him going up against Miami. If more FL ballers dont sign they are going to beat the pants off O-state again, and with our refs this time. but thats a 2010 story. Halla back in about a 1yr and 1/2.

Man, I almost forgot about the 1999 Kickoff Classic beatdown the Canes gave us.

Thanks for the reminder.

Swagger doesn't inspire winning, winning inspires swagger. I don't get why people get excited when players or recruits talk a big talk. Every school that isn't winning talks about needing the "swagger." No, you don't need swagger. You don't have swagger right now because you're getting your butts handed to you or at least falling short of expectations. You'll get swagger back when you start kicking butts. I saw so many Miami fans claiming they need the "swagger" back. So what do you call stomping the logo @Louisville before the game? Doesn't seem so "swaggerish" anymore when you get annihilated 35-7 afterwards, does it?

p.s. By "you" I mean in general, not OSU in particular.

I believe you can blame it on the song:
Noone on the corner got swagger like us, swagger like us. :tongue2:

Lamarcus can bring all the swagger he wants to OSU. You gotta love how hard the kid plays and his determination.

Great news on Dunkley...honestly, can you imagine that matchup every day in practice with Dunkley and LJ? Plus, if we get Tai-ler Jones, LJ is going to have some top notch competition. Like to hear we're on top, honestly I think the fit is perfect here.

I think a lot of people feel like our D has been "soft" despite our massive talent. I've seen JL and Freeman get plenty of criticism for not being nasty enough. Nobody would say they aren't great players, but they still got some criticism for not having "swagger". To be honest, despite having a stifling defense, for a while now, I haven't felt like opposing offenses were terrified of us, and cringed at the thought of being hit by our D. THAT is what we want when we say we want "swagger".

Our two matchups with colt were pretty nasty, though they've lacked that a bit in premiere games other than PSU.

That is exactly true.. Which in a way makes things even more disappointing.. Both games vs Texas I saw some serious nastiness on our D. It'd be interesting to see McCoy's average runs per game compared to runs per game when he played us.. Because he gave up on that REAL quick when we smacked him a few times. Both of those games gave me a bit of a bittersweet feeling.. In 2006, when we played Florida, I was thinking "What happened to the Texas game?!" and in 2008 I was thinking "Where was this against USC..." But yeah those games were both great defensive performances

While OSU certainly played much better vs Texas, I think the offensive struggles certainly contributed. OSU held USC to 14 points at home in the 2nd half, only to watch the offense settle for FGs and even give ReyRey a gift via pick 6. That's an absolute backbreaker when that game was about breaking that trend. That game went from potentially 10-14 to 3-21 and a tidal wave of momentum from which they never recovered.

In both games against Texas, OSU didn't score that much, but more often than not they were the hunters not the hunted (as troy said). Todd was not trying to avoid a sack, he was throwing lasers to the Brians. Beanie wasn't trying to beat two tackles before the line of scrimmage, he was dragging safeties along with him for extra yardage. Same thing with Troy, Ted, etc two years earlier.

So really you want a better defense. Most people, like you and me, like defenders who'll hit you in the mouth hard and then talk junk. The problem is that he needs to hit you in the mouth hard first. I mean really, when's the last time you saw a defender lay a big hit and did NOT at least talk a little trash? Everybody talks, but only those who can also hit are the intimidators.
