Lady Bucks Basketball Thread

Go Bucks!!!

Well, I tried...

I think losing Brandie hurt us today. We didn't seem like we knew what to do in the last few minutes - some bad shots and turnovers. Another senior certainly would have helped out there.

That said, today was just one of those days where the threes weren't falling, and it could have gone either way. I think most days we win that one. Now the last two games are critical, so we can get the number 1 seed in the B10 tourney, and let Purdue and MSU duke it out in the semis.

OSU women attract 10,141: Is that good or not-so-good?
Monday, February 19, 2007
ROB OLLER

For those who see the glass half-full, Value City was not half-empty.
For skeptics, however, the crowd of 10,141 that shook off the cold to watch an Ohio State women?s basketball game yesterday afternoon still was 9,059 short of capacity.
Personally, I think attracting 10,000 to a women?s basketball game is a positive sign, considering that the Buckeyes were averaging 4,625 through 15 home games (5,727 in six Big Ten games), and keeping in mind that the women shared a tip-off time yesterday with the OSU men, who played at Minnesota in a nationally televised game. The crowd was a season high and the seventh largest for a women?s game in the arena.

Spartans? comeback knocks off Buckeyes
Ohio State can?t handle 6-9 freshman DeHaan

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The final shot, a line-drive Hail Mary from beyond half-court, clanged off the front of the rim of the Ohio State basket and bounced back in the general direction of Marscilla Packer.
The unanswered prayer, which left Michigan State with a 62-59 upset over the fourth-ranked and Big Ten-leading Buckeyes yesterday in Value City Arena, fit perfectly within Packer?s long, difficult day at the office.

Spartans delay OSU women's Big Ten celebration

DeHaan scores 25, C-J's Jefferson adds 12 as Michigan State snaps Buckeyes' 17-game win streak, 62-59.

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State's desperation shot came up a foot short, touching off a leaping, smiling, group hug for the Michigan State Spartans. They weren't savoring a championship, just denying the Buckeyes one.
Allyssa DeHaan played bigger than her 6-foot-9 frame with 25 points and the 24th-ranked Spartans beat No. 4 Ohio State, 62-59, on Sunday, ending the Buckeyes' 17-game winning streak and putting their own celebration on hold.

This loss will probably end the chances at a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney. Hopefully the draw will still give them a good chance at making the Final Four.

But Buckeye teams are still on track for the 'Double-Triple'. That's back-to-back seasons with football, men's bball, and women's bball all claiming conference titles. I guess I should be trademarking that for the T-shirt sales. :wink2:

I guess you know the hubby isn't getting any for a long while.

What a shame. My heart goes out to the lady Bucks. I thought something like this would happen when Brandie got hurt.
Get them next time .:osu:

Don't take it out on him, he didn't miss any three-point shots.
