Kyle Kalis (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Edward)
He has 37 pancake blocks in four games this season. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound road grader was impressive enough to earn scholarship offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Ohio State. Kalis ended his recruitment early by giving Ohio State his verbal commitment.
"Kyle is 6-foot-5 and about 300 pounds but it his ability to practice and play at an intense level and he plays hard every snap in practice and in a game," said St. Edward's coach Rick Finotti. "Kyle is a student of the game, continually studying film and technique and he strives to become the best he can be. Kyle is a great young man who is also a good teammate, leader and worker. He has a blue collar approach in the weight room and field."
St. Edward has a pair of offensive linemen on their way to Big Ten schools in junior Kyle Kalis (Ohio State) and senior Geoff Mogus (Northwestern). Kalis went head-to-head last Friday against DeSales defensive lineman Chris Rock, a senior who has committed to play for Michigan.
"I went up against (Rock) the whole game, and I dominated him," Kalis said. "It should be fun to go up against him (in college). To go from 4-6 last year to 7-0 this year, it's amazing. Last year we didn't know our coach as well but we've spent hundreds of hours in the weight room since then."

The Eagles were relentless at the start, opening with an 80-yard, 10-play drive. Tackles Brandon Jackson and Kyle Kalis, guards Geoff Mogus and Tyler Orlosky and center Trent Rivera average 290 pounds and thrived St. Edward's fast-paced, no-huddle offense. Bates scored from the 1 behind Orlosky.
