Kid got light years better..clearly got taller up to around 6'3-6'4 for starters. His delivery is more over the top, which makes him play like 6'5. He is fitting the ball into tighter windows. He is throwing to the right shoulder every time...Andrews is a great target, but Kyle is putting the ball high and to the outside shoulder every time enabling him to make that play. He still squares up to his target on the run and delivers a strike. Just throws a beautiful ball and that kind of velocity and accuracy on intermediate-deep passes is tough to find at the HS level...see the post at around the 6:10 mark. Also the 12 yard around 7:10...look how much quicker that ball gets there then when Barker, and especially Harris throws it...shoot, even Watson. He has wonderful touch when he needs it and fires it in when the window is tighter.
I just watched over 9 minutes of next-level throws and I mean throws that are very difficult to make at the next level. There really isn't another throw I could ask to see him make. Hands down the top pro-style QB in this class imo. I think Rodgers is a great comparison. Not sure why the offer took this long with that film. As for the concerns on his athleticism...he can get out of that pocket quick and when he knows he needs to tuck it and get up field, he is very effective.
He runs a spread and the only component lacking is the read (I counted one read-option) but really who cares? Let it ride with Dunn, Ball, Elliott, etc. and bring in an athlete to run the read if we really want to. I would much rather have a guy who can consistently get it to our weapons. I love Braxton and hope he has taken the next step with his passing (I think he has, we'll see), but how many times over the last two years did we have to rely solely on his legs to score points? You could argue he didn't have many weapons and while I hear that, he also missed on a ton of standard throws when guys were open. With all the weapons we have coming in, I would rather have a guy that can get the ball to ALL of them than a guy who is inconsistent and usually has to put the offense on his back (or legs more accurately). With all our running backs, defense will still have to respect the run and if we get Allen to go along with all our WRs and Pivot players, they will certainly have to respect the pass as well. Plus we already have Barrett and Cardale here as more athletic QBs (good ones at that) and have offered a slew of dual-threat guys for '15. I think we can certainly afford a pro-style QB of Kyle's caliber. Plus he it looks like he wants to be a Buckeye and seems like a great kid and leader.
