Koi Perich (S Minnesota)

Nah no way. He’s coming here to go into the system that produced Caleb Downs in an NFL system.

We were his second choice (almost got him too), his position was featured, and his position here is available now.

I’d be shocked if he goes anywhere but Ohio State. I think it was Birm who joked after the Minnesota game that Koi will look great in S&G in 2026.

Anyway I’d be shocked if he goes anywhere but OSU.
I hope so, I really do. But his former coach just beat OSU, and is at a school that has no problem with overpaying for players if they really want them. OSU hasn't shown that yet, maybe this loss will bring that out. But Perich has more of a direct connection to Miami than OSU at the moment

I think we are willing to when there’s a great player at a position of need. That’s what gave us Caleb Downs.

I hope so too because add Koi to the mix and we have the best secondary in the big ten. It won’t be what it was this year because Downs will be missed and Koi isn’t at Caleb’s level. However it can surely sustain a high level with the addition here.

I'd love to see Koi in this DB room. But do you play Delane alongside him or McClain, and risk losing one of them?

I haven't looked at the roster for Miami, but wonder if they are heavy with seniors and will be in rebuilding mode next year. I guess what I am thinking about is which team is closer to returning to the CFP next year, based on experience levels of each team. Again, I am leaning on my philosophy that the more experienced teams perform better in the CFP.

Of course they do.

TCUN in 2023, our guys last year.

Extremely veteran teams.

With essentially the entire offense back in 2026 the defense just has to be great (not elite). Someone like Koi would borderline get this team to maintain the elite status provided we add on the DL too.

Seems we are strong candidates to get the #1 LB too. So if we can backfill with 4 kids from the portal on defense we are in business that’s for sure.

I’d think Oregon will be big players for Koi as well….Id love to see us get involved, but agree it will be an expensive acquisition.
He can’t cost more than Downs right? I’d think this is the player where it’s worth it.

Normally I don’t want higher priced guys. But if they’re sure fire starters then you have to make that call.

Just roll over a portion of the money set aside for Downs. Important player here and you’re right Oregon you have to believe will come after him too. Everyone will.

Just have to hope our prior relationship with him and our defensive style for the safety position will entice him. I think it will and I think he’ll likely be paid nicely too.

Ohio State named a school to watch for Big Ten star in transfer portal – and the Buckeyes have pushed hard for him before

Buckeye Nation will remember this name as a player Ohio State recruited before.

Ohio State has a clear need that Koi Perich can fulfill

The Buckeyes will lose Caleb Downs after the season, and bringing in a starter alongside Jaylen McClain makes a lot of sense. As it stands, freshman Faheem Delane and junior Malik Hartford are the players set to slide in beside McClain.

Perich would give the Buckeyes a player with star abilities and make it easier for life after Downs. Ohio State is set to lose at least six starters from its defense. Making a move for a player like Perich — who has shown big-time playing ability in the Big Ten — should be a move that the Buckeyes are willing to make.

It’s yet to be seen if talks or a visit will take place with Perich and the Buckeyes. Ohio State pushed hard for the 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety before; why wouldn’t they do it now, after he’s shown his capabilities at the college level?

Has to be either us or Miami since that’s where his previous DC is.

With Downs going in the first round and how we used him I think it’d be pretty dumb to turn this opportunity down.
I'd take logic out of the Portal lol! Duke could come from the top rope with an offer triple everyone else's
