Kirk Ferentz (four more B1G COY Awards than Tressel and Meyer combined)

It may be a rare year where he wins the award AND deserves it.

Ferentz tanks several years in a row knowing they can't fire him just so he can lower expectations for another Big CotY award?

Joking aside, the timing is rather convenient for him... they were finally starting to ramp up the "we can afford to fire him anyway" press in the Summer... and he starts putting together a decent year.

You can't fire a twenty time COY award winner!

Went to a Hawkeye board last night. They got themselves in the B1G CG already. I think they're gonna find a way to drop one before then. But, I'm just going from history. Still haven't seen them play this year...

Ferentz probably has a B1G COY kicker built in the contract. Kirk, you sandbagger, you.

That's the thing though... at this point they can drop 1 and still cruise. They already have tiebreaker on the next 3 teams in the West Standings (Wiscy, Illinois, Northwestern). The West teams left on their schedule include Minny (2 conf loss), Corn (2 conf loss), Purdue (3 conf loss). They also drew 2 doormats from the East - Maryland and Indiana. The latter, like NW, can play decently when they put their mind to it.... or implode. But if I was to pick a game left on their schedule to lose, that'd be it.
Only way I can see anyone else going is if Iowa manages to lose twice (maybe aforementioned Indiana and Corn wins on the back of an interim coach in late November?) while Wiscy finishes strong (somehow these 2 combined to draw the 3 pushover East teams between them - Wiscy has Maryland and Rutgers).

All that said, it'll never surprise me if/when that Division is an ACC-esque Circle of Destiny.
