Sorry to jump on the new puppy thread thing, but. . .
Some may remember that I lost my loyal best friend, Gordon, back in July.
Well, my wife at first was unsure of getting another dog. She needed one. I explained that just because you lost your best friend doesn't mean that you must forgo ever having friends again.
Anyway, we searched for a new puppy for months. Basset Hounds have the possibility of many genetic defects which can cause much pain and expense. The super-wrinkly Bassets you see on greeting cards and commercials are typically the product of the puppy mill destructed genes. I finally managed to find a man in Kentucky who showed Bassets nationally and who sold some, but only with many caveats (such as neutering, shots, etc. or he becomes lawful owner again). The point is that he cares about his pups. We bought Sherman, our new puppy, and we even have the e-mail addresses for his siblings' owners, one of whom lives in NJ and is going to meet us in Central Park with his hound. It was quite a trek getting our new pup home to us. . .
So, without further ado, some Sherman shots (he was born October 15):

Also, the ear length between the first and second pics was gained in one week. Freaky. . .
