Finally it has happened...a case where it is on the record that being a spoiled rich kid will in fact get you less punishment. Citing "Affluenza" (a term actually presented as a condition by some psychobabble assclown who likely got paid 6-7 figures to do so) a rich kid who killed 4 pedestrians after he drank beer he stole and rammed into pedestrians basically got probation for being a spoiled rich kid. Not a lawyer but doesn't this set up the parents to get bankrupted in civil court since the criminal court basically said it was their fault? Couldn't the parents be put on trial as well.

Not a lawyer but doesn't this set up the parents to get bankrupted in civil court since the criminal court basically said it was their fault? Couldn't the parents be put on trial as well.

Potentially on a negligent supervision charge, wrongful death, etc.

This. I'm a proponent of due process and the proper legal path - but this is not justice. It is not balance.

I wouldn't feel an ounce of pity if someone took a price out on this kid or the judge.
