Kentucky 43, LSU 37 (Final, 3 OT)

The interesting part is who is #2, #3 etc?

Oklahoma won convincingly against quality opposition.

South Florida won convincingly - but against relatively weak opposition.

Boston College won - against one this years worst teams in South Bend.

Cal lost against unranked Oregon State,

LSU lost against a reasonably well ranked Kentucky team in Lexington, KY.

Should LSU fall below Cal? I don't believe they should. Thus LSU > CAL.

Should Cal fall below Oklahoma (whose loss was away at Colorado) - I don't think so. Though their loss is arguably worse than LSU's to Kentucky.
Thus LSU > Oklahoma > Cal

Now to the remaining unbeatens.

Should South Florida be ranked higher or lower than Boston College? Push really in my mind and I could easily see their positions switched from AP to Coaches to Harris.

Still, South Florida's larger victory was in the comfortable confines of their own stadium. Thus, the final ranking I foresee will be ...

Ohio State > Boston College > South Florida > LSU > Oklahoma > Cal

USF has wins over Auburn and WVU. BC has no signature win.

tOSU> USF> BC> LSU> OU

I'm very scared.

I dont want to be number 1. Seeing Oregon St up on Cal 10-7 right now worries me. I want OSU undefeated #2..... We dont need the ego that comes with being the best team in the land right now.

This sort of sentiment pisses me off son much I can't see straight. If you cannot hope your team is the #1 team in the land, you need to go root for another team.

Are you really dumb enough to think the team will get an ego by being #1 and not #2? They were #1 last year and "ego" never came into play...the only fault last year was they got complacent before playing Florida, and they've clearly learned from that.

Maybe someone can think "#1 position is a curse" but who knows, time will tell, I disagree with the thought but I can understand it. We've done well as #1, hopefully that continues, but there's no reason to be mean to someone who's concerned.

Then agan, I am not you...

Quite frankly 1 or 2 at this point makes absolutely no difference. If the players or fans don't get that by now they are slow learners with short memories.
They only place it's not fun to be is #3 come early january.
Also, I want to second drydens sentiment, if tOSU is in the championship, 1 or 2, people will be saying we don't deserve. We will hear more about lasts years game than the game approaching.
Michigan State is a huge trap game, I can't tell you how happy I am it's at home, Tressel should pop out some '98 film.

I was trying to figure out what that guy was trying to prove by trying to bring a hammer fist down on the back of Woodson's head.

I don't know, but I noticed that the announcers didn't even see it. Mark May, Lou Holtz, and Reece Davis didn't see it. Apparently, no one saw it but some referees and a select few outside of the game. The announcers were talking about the penalty being on the late hit to the face by the defensive player - not the haymaker thrown right after that.

I noticed that as well.

Am I being too conservative by having expected an expulsion from the game for throwing a punch?
