BOXING INSIDER
Pavlik-Taylor week is here

Monday, February 11, 2008
All the verbiage is just about done with before Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor renew acquaintances in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Both fighters will be in Los Angeles today for a press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard for more last-ditch hype before making the trek across the desert.
Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) has completed training in Youngstown as usual, while Taylor (27-1-1, 17 KOs) decided to prepare in Sin City. To hear him talk last week, his seventh-round knockout loss in September was nothing but a fluke.
"It took a butt-kicking to get back on track," said Taylor, during a national conference call. "I'm back on track and there ain't no one that can beat me when I'm at the top of my game. Nobody."

Maybe so, but Pavlik does have the ear of the bettors. According to sportsbetting.com, Pavlik is about a 3-2 favorite. He was listed at minus-$200, with Taylor at plus-$160.
Taylor invoked a rematch clause that made this non-title, 12-rounder take place at the catch weight of 166 pounds. Pavlik's WBC-WBO titles will not be at stake, although further bragging rights will.

Didn't realize that this wasn't a sanctioned Title Bout. I love Kelly and what he's brought to the NEO area, particularly to his hometown of Youngstown. That being said, and as much as I respect his abilities, I see no way that he beats Taylor. Taylor is a guy that you can get once, but not twice in a row.

Best of luck to Kelly, hope to hell that you prove me wrong. I've got very few v-bucks that I'd like to increase on, but would never do so by betting against Kelly.

GO out and kick his a$$ KP!

Peace.

Beating the same guy two times is hard....but if Pavlik can get through what will most likely be a flurry in the first couple rounds from Taylor, I think he'll end up winning either by TKO or on the scorecards.

I'll say TKO in 10 for Pavlik

BOXING PAVLIK VS. TAYLOR:Saturday, 9 p.m., MGM Grand, Las Vegas, HBO pay-per-view

Taylor's fight plan is to apply pressure

Thursday, February 14, 2008
Associated Press
Las Vegas - Jermain Taylor stepped straight into boxing's brightest lights Wednesday and calmly revealed every bit of his plan for avenging his knockout loss to Kelly Pavlik last year.
"I'm not looking to go in there with a strategy," Taylor said. "It's going to be a fight, all 12 rounds. I'm going straight to him, all 12 rounds. He gets knocked out, I get knocked out, it don't matter. I'm going straight to him."
After his perfect career received a glaring blemish in Atlantic City 4? months ago, Taylor doesn't care who knows his intentions in Saturday night's rematch at the MGM Grand Garden. He claims he's going back to the basics that once made him the undisputed middleweight champion, putting his former amateur coach back in charge of training for a fight he expects to end with one punch.

He's a fool if he thinks he can out-slug Kelly. Pavlik's not the most technical boxer, nor does he have great defense, so I would think that would be the best way to go out and try and beat him. I hope this fight is similar to the Miranda fight, two boxers toe-to-toe and just punching...
