Kelly Pavlik vs. Jermain Taylor

The linked cast was about 4 rounds behind, but it was money because is it was free.

Pavlik won with a consistent and aggressive left jab. Taylor couldn't stop it the entire fight. The action in the 11th was fantastic, and Pavlik really had Taylor tired the last two rounds. Taylor really is lucky the fight could not go on any longer. He was done.

Taylor fought a great fight! It's just too bad the middleweight divison sucks and their is nobody for Pavlik to fight.

He did. If the decision were coming down to power punches, he would have won. And it was even until the last two rounds. But by that point, it was obvious that Taylor was spent.

Watching without sound, I thought Kelly was much more active. It was a classic boxing win. If you enjoy watching guys throwing haymakers and landing knock out blows, this one wasn't for you. Congrats Kelly! You da man!

ESPN - Pavlik stays perfect after unanimous decision in rematch with Taylor - Boxing

LAS VEGAS -- Although you wouldn't know it from Kelly Pavlik's history of dynamite knockouts, patience is among the middleweight champion's greatest virtues.
Pavlik waited seven years for his first title shot against Jermain Taylor last year, and didn't waste it. In the rematch Saturday night, Pavlik persisted until the late rounds, when he finally landed the big punches that kept him perfect.
With a strong finish to a bout with more tactics than theatrics, the pride of Youngstown, Ohio, beat Taylor on Saturday night for the second time in 4? months, winning a unanimous decision....

By Victor Perea

After engaging in a crowd pleasing twelve round catch weight bout Jermain Taylor (27-2, 17 KOs) and Kelly ?The Ghost? Pavlik (33-0, 29 KOs) made their way into the media room at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV to speak about the bout and plans for the future. Former WBC, WBO, WBA and IBF Middleweight Champion of the world Jermain ?Bad Intentions? Taylor was humbled by his twelve round unanimous decision loss to WBC/WBO Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik, whose title was not on the line tonight before a crowd of 9,706. Although several razorback ringside observers believed Taylor won the contest Taylor was a true sportsman in conceding publicly at the post fight presser.

?I remember when Bernard Hopkins did it after our fight. He took some glory away. Let him be happy, the man is the middleweight champion of the world let him enjoy it,? said Taylor. ?He did catch me, he hurt me with a body shot in the 11th round. I could have did things a lot different,? added Taylor ?But he had a great fight all the way around. I give it to him.?

Taylor?s promoter Lou Dibella also commended Pavlik?s performance while praising his fighters best efforts. ?If you got an effort like this every time boxing has a big fight we wouldn?t have to worry about competition like MMA.?

?This fight will happen again sometime in the future, for now Jermain will rest and in about a month we?ll talk about it. HBO has already let us know Jermain?s next fight will be on HBO and it will be at 168lbs.?

After Taylor spoke with the media the champion took the podium and gave thanks to his Youngstown supporters.?I have to give it to my fans, they are the greatest Youngstown is full of wonderful people and they were all supporting me tonight,? said Pavlik.
?I hope everyone enjoyed it. I had to use my brain and change my tactics. He sat and slid off the ropes, he was trying to counter over my jab. I thought my single jab landed a lot but my double jab didn?t,? added Pavlik ?I felt I won the first round and lost the second through the 6th and won again from 7th on. I felt a little stiff.?

Pavlik?s promoter and Top Rank?s top rank Bob Arum stated Pavlik would stay at 160lbs until he couldn?t make the weight.

?The middleweight title is something you don?t give up unless you absolutely can?t make weight anymore. You will see Kelly on June 7, 2008 at Madison Square Garden. The two possible opponents will be Irish John Duddy or Trinidad the Puerto Rican.?

When questioned by the media how Trinidad would be sanctioned by the WBC/WBO when he has not won a fight since beating Ricardo Mayorga in 2004, Arum stated, ?the question shouldn?t be about sanction, it should be about Trinidad being able to make 160lbs. As much sense as it makes for this fight, if it's not for a title it won't happen.?

Arum stated Pavlik and his camp will be ringside next Saturday night to watch Irish John Duddy when he takes on Walid Smichet ten round contest.
