This loss hurts and stings but is nowhere near the worst we have been through. I'm pretty much over it before noon the next day.

The Game '95, '96, '98 MSU and the last NC game were the soul crushers of the past 10-15 years.

I'd argue this is right up there with them. This team may not be at the same talent level or play of some of those other teams. In that sense Saturday's upset isn't comparable. But when you consider other factors such as being able to take a #1 ranking into Ann Arbor, redemption from last year, ending our Big Ten, home, and regular season winning streaks, it certainly makes it as big as the others.

Maybe I'm just getting old. I don't have anywhere near the same feelings of pain from this one.

Gotta go with Jax on this one. Illinois surely didn't hurt me as much as MSU 98. There was no doubt in my mind we were the best team in college football that year. Can't honestly say that this year. Plus I am old school and love when we go to the Rose Bowl. That definitely takes the sting away a little.

a few friends called me yesterday to ask how i was handling the loss. i thought about it for a minute and realized that, for whatever reason, this one doesn't hurt nearly as bad as 95, 96 or last years NC. maybe its because the expectations weren't there this year. In those years, we felt like it was ours to win from the end of the previous season. This year, I didn't really get into the possibilities of an NC until a few weeks ago. That's my theory FWIW. Go Bucks, Michigan Sucks. A win this week makes it all go away!

The REAL problem with Saturday's loss.

We are spoiled. Plain and simple. Tressel has built a reputation for always winning the games we should and never getting out coached. We ran into a team that had everything go right and played thier bast game of the season against us. It's time to take a step back and appreciate the thing of beauty Tressel has turned our pragram into. Remember the beginning of the season and what your expectations were. This team has well exceded them. No matter what happens the rest of the season I am extremely proud of our boys. Let's take the frustration from the loss and turn it into energy and hype for this Saturday. It's FREAKING Michigan week. Let's GO!

Totally agree. In fact that is what I said to the guys at work when the game ended Saturday. I really couldnt be upset, because I honestly believe if anybody else was coaching the current team, they would have 3 losses. Tress has a way of winning no matter what the circumstances, and it really does spoil us.

Yeah Spazztic1 there are some spoiled followers of Buckeye Football, but it is what it is. When the season began to heat up in august, I looked over the roster and saw alot of young and untested that made me think that there might be some bumps in the road. Now we have one and thats okay but it was a bitter pill to swallow I guess. Winning all the games at home and then having to go to tSun for the big one, has always been a tough task for any OSU team. In 1979 it was accomplished by Coach Earle Bruce over Michigan on a blocked punt for a TD. The Buckeyes played for the N/C and lost by one point.

The most favorable years for a trip to the N/C game is in the even numbered years. 54' 68' and 02' for example. Buckeye Tradition and its history has spoiled alot of us and we still have a passion for all its glory. So this year we can look back at what a ride it was and how much enjoyment it gave us.

I would hope that alot of our 3 year letterman have hopes of returning for another year in 08. Instead of opting to go to the NFL. It happened in 02 when Mike Doss opted to return for the sake of winning a National Championship game. And look what happened. Just some thoughts to think about.

I know that merges can be unpopular, but one of the reasons this board is superior to other boards is that we keep it organized.

While merged threads may not have exactly the same subject all the time, they do always have the same theme. People who want to express the sentiment or disagree with it have one place to go, one thread to read.

I appreciate the thoughts of ALL of the posts that I have merged into this thread from various others. I agree with them. They work better when their harmony can be found in one place, rather than scattered across several pages of the board.
