From the OSU site...Ben talks about his unreal performance at the Buckeye Kicking Academy and at OSU's camp. Talks about his goals for his senior season (including kicking a 70-yard FG) and for his career at OSU. Also weighs in on the current recruiting class.

If there is a better kicking prospect in the country I have not seen him...

A senior-to-be winning three kicking camps (one with a 58-yarder, one with a 63-yarder and the other with a 61-yarder) who has also been putting his kickoffs out of bounds and has been devloping his punting technique? I call that "unreal"...

In 30 Varsity games thus far (and 10 Freshman games), Buchanan has never booted a single kick off out of bounds. What WADC45 was saying is Buchanan's kick offs were going out of the back of the end zone, not out of bounds. With the college game now kicking off from the 30 yard line, kick offs out of the back of the end zone will become rare.

Two questions. 1. What are the chances that Ben ever handles both the punting and kicking duties at the same time? 2. Shouldn't his star ranking be higher? Considering he is both a punter and a kicker he should get stars for both!

Seriously, with the importance JT puts on the kicking game, would Ben be able to do both, or would he focus just on the kicking as to not spread himself to thin?

Ben is a great kicker and a great punter, there's just no way around that. Once Trapasso, a JR, graduates he will take over his punting and same with Pettrey, a SOPH, and the kicking duties. It will save a schollie or 2, seeing as when Ben gets on campus we will have 4 scholarship specialists, while 2-3 IMO is enough and Ben will help us out here. Ben (K/P), Jonathan Thoma (P) and probably a kid who is solely a kicker should be the max. A red-shirt year will help separate them as well so we can have Ben for a full3 years hopefully.
