Justin Verlander at it again...

A shortstop with any speed at all would have goTten to that ball. Peraltas problem when he was in Cleveland was that, while his fielding numbers were not bad, a big part of the problem was his range was horrible at short. Balls were base hits that a lot of other ss would have fielded. Watch that hit in slow mo and watch how slow his reflexes were in reacting to the ball, which was not hit very hard. Another thing, why was he giving up so much room up the middle when Verlander was still throwing in the high 90's? If that guy makes contact, he's much more likely to hit to the left of the ss. The last ball hit to Peralta was hit to the exact same spot as the base hit but he was in the correct position for that one.

Verlander is absolutely one of the most dominant in the game today. His stamina is amazing to be able to hum the ball up there at 99-100 in the 8th inning of a game. The guy gets great extension out of the lower half of his body and the ball absolutely explodes out of his hand
