A shortstop with any speed at all would have goTten to that ball. Peraltas problem when he was in Cleveland was that, while his fielding numbers were not bad, a big part of the problem was his range was horrible at short. Balls were base hits that a lot of other ss would have fielded. Watch that hit in slow mo and watch how slow his reflexes were in reacting to the ball, which was not hit very hard. Another thing, why was he giving up so much room up the middle when Verlander was still throwing in the high 90's? If that guy makes contact, he's much more likely to hit to the left of the ss. The last ball hit to Peralta was hit to the exact same spot as the base hit but he was in the correct position for that one.
