Justin Frye (OL Coach Arizona Cardinals)

Will be tough for anyone to convince me LeCharles Bentley isn't the pinnacle for this position.
Elite tier of teaching/running a premium operation.. wrote the book on the topic

Known as one the ultra elite players as an OL in pros and college. OSU blood/Hall of Fame/AA/Remington/
How is that not a formula that doesn't spell GET HIM.... IF he even has an interest

Him and Marotti would create cyborgs
maybe i’m missing something but does he have coaching experience?

I definitely agree, but I just think he’s a massive pipe dream. Why leave your own company where you have no where near the level of pressure as a coach. His predecessor was almost run out of town, and his possible future boss had death threats to himself and his family, BY HIS OWN FANS! Not sure Bentley wants that. But I could be wrong.
Hartline could do the same thing right now... Bentley has a burn in him to give back... and wouldn't surprise me if that burn rages right now and wins out.. Money is immaterial for Bentley... He never needed a dime after NFL.. and many generations forward

Just a note on Frye. Of course don't know what goes/went on behind closed doors at the Woody, but.....clear that Day and Chip had to step in and 'help' Frye make decisions. Certainly I'm imputing what occured, but the hand-writing was on the wall, especially with the lack of big name/time OL recruits. No matter how narrow the 'miss' was, gotta convert. Anyway, I've personally never wanted to stay where not wanted, and the vibes can be very strong, treatment received, etc. Buckeye Nation was particularly hard on Frye, and although the year's OL was ultimately successful, probably with a lot of fingers crossed behind one's back. He wasn't wanted, but he produced, so going to the pros was his best choice. Hopefully he'll be successful, and tOSU will wrangle in a top-flight teacher, and an even better recruiter for national OL talent. LeChuck is an intriguing choice, but will he be willing to give up his OL training business for this new fulltime gig? Stay tuned.

Anyway, best of luck to Coach Frye. He was a bigpart of why OSU won the Natty and that won’t be forgotten
This. It would be an ideal scenario, but maybe a dream scenario. It is akin to leaving the private sector for a company you built in a niche industry and leaving all of your clients for a government job. Actually, now that I typed it, that is exactly what it would be.

That said, home is where the heart is. Maybe the opportunity to be a coach at OSU is his dream. I feel like he would bring the technical aspects that Frye had and be an improvement as a recruiter. I think Frye wanted to be in the pros all along and I am all about him using his success at OSU to get there after being critical in winning a Natty. Nothing but love at the end of the day.

Boy, what a conundrum for Day. Methinks that losing Chip was the worst blow for Ryan, knowing that he wouldn't be stabbed in the back, and getting an excellent OL coach and QB coach along with his OC mind. Some of the plays Chip whipped up were marvelous, and am betting that Buckeye Nation's jaws dropped (just as mine did). Kevin Wilson still (to me at least) was a very vanilla OC and stayed in the background while Day was calling the offensive plays. But now there's another problem, as Hartline has the title, and is learning, but Hartline's true worth is as a WR coach/recruiter. But someone will be willing to take Hartline on as a true OC, sometime. Soooo, the fit between the three has to be pretty exact, and going to be extremely hard to find. Keeping Hartline's head in the game, while learning the OC job, and getting an OC with creativity and rep, while a 'minor' as it were, in OL technique. As well as knowing that Day could revert to play calling (my guess). LeChuck would be perfect for the OL role, but as noted above, he's got a thriving (?) company, and didn't know about his NFL gig. And not entirely certain that Day is willing to trust his $10 million salary on an 'up-and-coming' youngster to be OC. A bit of a ramble, I realize, but truly a puzzle to fit these pieces together in a coherent package. Oh yeah, did I mention QB mentoring? Add that ingredient to the cocktail...

Meh - this stuff comes with success. Day's not stupid - he knew Chip was only here for a set amount of time. I'm pretty sure he knew Knowles was leaving too at some point.

I said it this time last year - the tree is shaking, let it shake out.

Undoubtedly. No one has ever said that Ryan Day was deficient in the brain department. Hey, had a thought. It appears (to me at least), that a combination of Kevin Wilson and Brian Hartline will collaborate on OC duties, plus Wilson becoming OL coach, and Hartline doing his dance with the WRs. Has anyone told Brian that he'd have to give up his field duties, because an OC mostly stays in the press box area to oversee what the other team's D is doing. Don't really believe he's ready to give up his field duties quite yet. Finally, thought LeAllen (?) was the asst DL coach to LJsr? Seems to me, to be a blow as thought he was the heir apparent. For when LJ finally calls it a career.
