Joshua Jarboe (official thread)

A wasted opportunity for mr. Jarboe. On a selfish level, this is another guy that OSU had an offer out to for along time, had offers from a bunch of top programs, and most anyone would have loved to signed. It is a blessing that he didn't committ to us. After a few years of some bad luck, it seems that lately we have been fortunate with some of the big fish that got away, only to get themselves in trouble elsewhere. The PSU linebacker comes to mind.

It's been a recurring theme throughout the Tressel era and it's not new, it's been around since 2003 or so. Seems like when we lose a recruit we often come out winners under Tressel.

We offered Jarboe pretty early on and then backed off. I bet we did some digging and found what we needed to know. My speculation, fwiw.
Since the Louis Irizarry problems we have stayed away from a major wreck. While you may just be speculating BGriff, It has to be more than coincidence that the staff has repeatedly dodged situations with recruits that later had either criminal or major academic problems. The media may never give us credit, but coach Tressel has shown that we can bring in good people, good student athletes, and still compete at the highest level. Because of this, I am very proud of the Bucks. Not as easy of a thing to say right now if you are a fan of PSU or FSU, for example. Keep bringing the insight BGriff.
