Josh Brent (official thread)

Ok, I'm starting to get a wee-bit worried/frustrated. Brent, Barksdale, and Still were supposed to be locks. Now Brent and Still are reportedly leaning towards PSU and UI??? We finish out the season 12-0 with a Heisman and we seem to actually be slipping with some prospects. We NEED Brent(don't we? :tongue2: )! Do I just need to have more patience?

We are the #1 team in the country playing for a national championship and we graduate our top 3 DT's this year.

Why would they want to come here?

The fact that he and Wilson are announcing together is enough for me to say OSU is out, you can't fault kids for staying home. But this happens... from Stanley McGlover, Dwayne Jarrett to AJ Wallace. The importantce here is the system and coaching you'll recieve. Tressel finds football players and turns them into team players. No worries. Just a few weeks ago we were trying to decide how to pick and choose for the final 8 spots... everything will work out just fine. And as for Jeremiah... if OSU wants him... they take him.

good point about him and Wilson announcing together.....From everything I've heard Tez is going to Illinois.......I still think Brent to tOSU

We are heading to the NC game on the backs of the class of 2002. That class included four five star prospects: Mike Kudla, Mike D'Andrea, Maurice Clarett, and Derek Morris. All were considered essential to our success.

We will struggle through somehow.

Excellent point (although I don't think OSU wins a national championship in '02 without Clarett)...Your point is still made.

I'm not a recruiting expert, but I think you're wrong on Brent. I would have agreed with you two days ago.

I'll echo the "we'll be OK" sentiment, and if it's not too presumptious of me, perhaps even try to divert us back to the topic at hand--specifically the recruiting of the young Mr. Brent.

I can't blame the guy for wanting to represent his state. Heck, that's the reason the majority of us are on this particular site in the first place--home state pride. He's welcome to join Buckeye nation, and if he stays home, well... he's aware of the consequences. He'll have to line up face to face against our beloved Bucks.

...Along about then, I think he'll realize the significance of all that he saw on his visit--specifically as it will be bearing its full might against him.

Wowzers.... where did that come from? Bottom line, I guess, is that he'll make the decision that's best for him, and we'll all continue to admire and respect him. We'll even wish him luck--until he takes the field opposite our beloved Scarlet and Gray.

Brent?

Brent stating Illinois leads right after his OSU visit + announcing w/ Wilson = not going to OSU.

Remember A.Davis did the same thing after his visit. There could be pressure for the kid to stay instate so he basically downplays and says everything was 'alright'. Sounds to me kids are getting smarter and more polished in dealing with journalist this year. I'm sure signing day is going to have a few shockers from across the nation.
I personally would give all my visits a 7 publically, never give a leader and give the exact same info to all the reporters everytime they call until I was really sure which direction I truelly wanted to go.
