Don't worry, we have that part covered.

I just want to make sure if Wilson, Hughes, Benn, and Brent, as well as a couple other blue-chippers, make Illinois their destination, you give props to our coaching staff. The same will be returned if it happens to go your way.

no one I know has ever claimed the Zooker can't recruit. He is one of the worst in-game strategists I have ever seen on the sideline (at a BCS school) though, he can't coach a lick. As for Brent I think this one will get interesting......

What makes you so sure? From what I hear, Benn doesn't like the social life at ND, and Illinois is coming on strong; they're certainly in his top 2.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Benn, Hughes, Tez and Brent all end up at Illinois...

Thanks for your guarantee, you sure seem to know what's going on in recruiting these days, but I'll choose to take the advice of inside sources and Rivals writers instead.

If Zook gets that haul, props to him. However, it will take much more than those three players to replenish the barren cupboard in Champaign.

I have seen Josh play 3 times this year and here is my take. This may sound hypocritical but here it goes. If he decides to stay in-state and go to Illinois I would be thrilled. If he decides that OSU is a better fit then I am not going to feel that bad because I worry about his ability. Let me explain, the first game I saw Josh was a beast. There was nothing the other team could do about him. Josh is a man among boys here in central Illinois. Josh plays in the 4A class but is built for competition in the 7 to 8A category. The kids he goes against are "cornfed" farming boys who skills are mediocre at best. Second game, he did little of anything for someone of his caliber. I chalk this up as a "bad" game that every athlete has once and a while. Third game, his team was up against the now conference winner. Both teams were undefeated and it was played on Josh's home field. His team lost but Josh played well. But although he played well he should have played even better. A friend went to his last game which was against a 3A team and said that Josh looked "ok." At this game, the opposing team when they started getting a good drive going, goes no huddle. Buddy said that Josh was winded terribly, he was standing up trying to catch his breath and then at the last possible moment went into his stance before the ball was snapped. I wouldn't have thought too much about this if it was early in the season but this was the last game and his conditioning should have been much better. Josh's team won the game but it went into 4 overtimes! I admit that I do not have the talent of a "scout" but I have good instincts and my instinct on this kid is that he may not live up to the hype. Just my opinion

That's what's nice about having a coach like Tressel (and hopefully something that Zook can bring for Illinois) - his ability to develope kids who have talent, but need work also, into all Big Ten caliber players.

BigTenFan-- I do not know if you played high school football or any level for that matter, but during the football season I believe that you get out of shape rather than into shape (big lineman types anyway). The two a day and three a days get you into tremendous shape leading up to the season, then the practices change, the running drills are limited and you put in play packages (at least that's what we did). There were days however, that we were punished with intense training drills, but those were only once in a great while (Thank God)!

Thanks for the evaluation...The thing you have to remember when evaluating these kids in high school when they are so much better than the other kids that it can get boring at times for them. They may get bored/tired so to speak and take a couple plays off. No big guys goes hard on every play at the high school level and even the college level when forced to play the whole game. This is the reason why schools like tOSU/Michigan/FSU/Miami who have tons of depth play about 8 guys on the d-line a game to keep the guys fresh.

When evaluating a d-lineman in highschool you have to look at his overall size and quickness, which from his ability to manhandle the kids is pretty good. Also his technique, I am curious on his rather good plays if he is staying low to the ground and how quick he is off the ball.

The motor and condidtioning will come with college coaches and technique will also come.

If you think that taking plays off is not a major red flag and a "motor" is something that can be coached, I'll have to completely disagree.

Coaches can coach plenty of things...heart is not one of them.

I knew after typing all that it was going to run together and not make complete sense.

To clairfy a little bit, the player can play with a high motor for a while, but when he is doing that on everyplay against less competition he knows that he is going to need to save some of his energy for later in the game. The kid might not actually be taking plays off, but he is not in the shape needed to keep going so it looks as if he is being lazy when he is just truly gassed.

So it is hard to tell from watching a recruits film exactally how much of it is a lack of heart and how much of it can be chalked up to being out of shape.

And by what I meant that the motor can be coached up is by the coaches getting the player in shape and giving him rests when he needs them to be able to go hard when he is in there.
