Joseph Barksdale (OL Arizona Cardinals)

Hey guys, LSU Tigers' fan here. I know it's not official until Saturday but signs are pointing to Barksdale signing with LSU (although who knows what can happen). No one really was even talking about this kid here since it seemed like he'd pick between OSU/ND/Texas but recruiting is quite the roller coaster ride.

Just wondering, what's your opinion of Barksdale since you guys have obviously followed him a lot longer than most LSU fans?

Thanks, and good luck in the NC! (I hate Florida)

Don't know the whole story or any behind the scenes information, but if the kid has told the coaches multiple times he was going to be a Buckeye then at the last minute decided he is not, I think that is more then "enjoying thee recruiting process".

Maybe I am in the minority, I think a kid should take his time and enjoy his visits and if he is not sure where he wants to go yet, don't tell the coaches you are going there. I guess I place too high a value on mean and do what you say.

Again this might not apply to JB, not sure what he has told the coaches if anything.
FWIW, Barksdale has allegedly "committed" to several staffs....

Geaux tiger - I have never seen him play so this information is just based on what I have read. He is a huge kid with great physical abilities. He also has good grades. The only knock I have heard on him is he may not go 100% on every down and plays a little "soft". Great potential but just has to get that "nasty" streak that great players often have. Also, he changes his mind every 30 seconds about who his leader is.

Welcome to BP...no offense, but we have a 48 page thread that contains about every thought, article, film breakdown, and opinion of Joseph. Feel free to backtrack and read.

To the LSU fans, if true, you are getting a gifted football player. I personally think you are also getting a headache, regardless of where he plays. Good luck to him and LSU.

Also, had a great time seeing ND get CRUSHED.

If I were an LSU fan, I would hope that that roller coaster ride ends the minute that JB sets foot in Baton Rouge....

Yeah I apologize, the first page had some highlights. Most of the thread was more about his recruiting process than info on how he plays but I'll read through it anyway.

Hey, it's the recruiting game, everyone loses prospects. We might lose this big time RB prospect Joe McKnight to USC even though he's a local Louisiana kid. I sometimes wish I could knock some sense into these kids :tongue2:

I'll believe it when I actually hear Barksdale committing to LSU on saturday. I still think the Buckeyes have a good shot at landing him. If he does go to LSU then more power to him. But I do think he is trying to throw people off based on what he has done so far in the recruiting process. No one knows but him. All these rumors and reading into what he says means nothing in the end. Barksdale will be a backup at LSU or a potential starter for the Buckeyes next year if he does well in spring ball.

My thoughts exactly...greenies for you. There is WAY too much that has come out of this kid's mouth and been speculated lately that does not make sense. I think everything that has been said over the last few weeks out of the Barksdale camp has been pure smoke screen. He is a kid enjoying his 15 minutes and I am pretty sure I would do exactly the same thing. I would totally mess around with you jokers. Am I confident that he ends up at OSU? Not very. But that doesn't mean I am confident he ends up at LSU either. I have no clue where this kid is headed. But like I said in the Davis thread, the beauty is that we will all know where he is headed in about 28 hours. And then we can put this puppy to rest and move on to the next kid to have a nervous breakdown over.

Every year there is one of these recruits that waffles and keeps us on the edge of our seat, and every year the Bucks do just fine with or without them. I truly hope JB picks tOSU, but at the end of the day he has to chose what he feels is best for him. If that's Baton Rouge, well, good luck in Baton Rouge. Let us all remember, the loss of any one recruit is not a dagger. How many of these 5* recruits don't pan out in the end anyway? Jason Gwaltney was just two years ago, and he's already trying to resurrect his career. I hope Mr. Barksdale succeeds wherever he choses to go. I hope that's Columbus. If not, I won't lose any sleep.

I think we'll have a Joe B thread in the recruiting forum on Sunday, he's one of the most unique kids I've known in recruiting.

UF, first off love your post! I agree I think JB will be a Buck and our coaches will turn him into an NFL draft pick before he leaves.

Edit: Thanks for clarifying UF.
